Es porque el origen de su nombre Derpy viene del termino "Derp", que significa algo asi como alguien con un retraso mental.
Por esa razon, la gente de Hasbro lo ha tomado como una ofensa. Por esa razon le quieren cambiar el nombre. Pero parece que finalmente no lo van a hacer.
Fijate que Derpy tiene los ojos desviados y en la serie siempre que aparece comete algun error gracioso
