First of all, I suggest using a a steady line instead of that hesitating, go-little-by-little technique. It makes the picture neater and not as "fuzzy".
The head is too big. As in, way too big. First of all, the eyes are completely off. They're too close together for any sort of canine, and too big as well. The muzzle is TOO far in, making the muzzle seem a 2-D object pasted on last minute. The chest could also be expanded on a little, but the feet also need a big of work. Wolves don't have plantigrade feet.
The hindleg in the back is completely off. From your drawing, it seems to connected in an entirely different spot. The tail looks like it's limp, but also a bit stiff. Work on adding in a bit of body language too. Expression isn't just facial expression, but body language such as arm position, spine position, etc.

This is the most accurate rendition of BSW I could do for you. However :devlucrid-dreamer: is so totally right. Nikki's style has become overly popular and all she did was copy *KayFedewa 's style and change a few things around. Her style is not unique and is really simplistic with a lack of anatomy for when it comes to drawing "wolves". I figured out how to draw and color like her in a matter of 2 hours one night: [link] . I can understand if she was drawing a hybrid species, but not a wolf. The way she draws them are long, lanky and thin while real wolves are short, stalky and fluffy. I do not recommend learning to draw from her because of her shear lack of anatomy when it comes to drawing her wolves. I get that she is trying to stylize her characters, but they are to the point where they seem to be a hybrid species, not a true wolf as she claims them to be. But yea, enough ranting XD! You are doing great, especially for your age group (i wasn't nearly as good as this when I was your age :3). Just keep practicing, working and exploring the art of drawing and you will improve more then you can ever imagine!

thx shroud, I've been studying more anatomy than I did before I have gotten way better and decided Never to reference from her since I also have received a lot of questions of what I am drawing or what is that when I draw like , and when I look back at it I relized I'm not even sure what I was drawing myself . So I'm going to keep working and working until I get better

np ! i wouldn't say to never reference from her. she has a nice coloring style that is easy to follow and mimic (though she could use some lessons in cleanup and outlining). but, for me, i look at her works to improve on gradient usage and unique poses for Wolf Song
. I don't agree with people that she is talentless, but she is in no way the best artist on DA, only one of the most popular. I think it was her attitude a few years back that made her hated by a lot of other respected canine artists, and even now she believes that she is better then she is.
I'm glad that you came to that realization, when you try to be like another artist, you loose yourself in the process. your style and individuality is lost if you try to be like another artist that you admire so always be ready to express yourself in every piece of artwork that you do :3!! And trust me on this, anatomy is not everything when it comes to art. people like to make a HUGE fuss over it on DA, but there are plenty of famous artists that studied anatomy and completely disregarded it in their art. it's up to the creator what they want their artwork to look like, not the critic. critics are a great help for artists, but you can never please everyone so don't try to ! please yourself first and then your fans, friends and critics after :3!
lol sorry, i'm a talker when i want to be XD!

Oh, that's what I thought.
I think your initial concern should not be to mimic another artist's "style," but to learn anatomy. Once you know anatomy -- how an animal really looks -- you can develop a style that's all your own, influenced by many other artists. While BSW is popular, I find her art unimpressive; anyone can draw wolves like that, color like that, etc. I, personally, find the style lazy. However, BSW obviously has some raw talent, by way of her recent portrait WIP of her dogs Izzy and Mimo ( [link] ).
Many cartoonists will, first, study an animal as-is in the real world. From there, they develop it to be more humorous/humanesque/etc. (just think The Emperor's New Groove production; they studied llamas, first!). I have complete confidence in you... study some photographs of the animal(s) you want to draw and you'll soon be on your way to making your art yours, not BSW's.

You're most welcome. (:
I was in your "boat" before. I had a couple of good friends whose styles I mimicked... all I got in terms of comments was how such-and-such reminded the viewer of my two friends. And if anyone asks me, I don't want to hear myself being compared to BSW's cartoon style. (She already has too many clones as it is.)
If you'd like, you can shoot me a note any time you want and I'll give you redlines/tutorials/stock resources for your to use as a reference. A really great resource with various poses, expressions, etc. is Monty Sloan's Wolfpaper Picture Archive. He's a well-known wolf photographer who visits the Wolf Park in Indiana and shares his photos on-line, and doesn't mind if artists use his photos as a reference (as long as they aren't selling the work derived from his photography or selling/claiming the photograph itself).
I look forward to watching your improvement.

I don't mind at all, as long as you have a nice patience level. X) I'm assistant manager at a local livery with 24 horses, as well as equine manager/trail guide -- I almost never have a day off. (My mare recently had an ulcer in her eye and needs her ointment 2x daily at least, for example.)
I usually give at least detailed critiques to people, if I don't have the time for redlines (and I almost always send them links of real animals doing what I'm describing). So even if I don't get to redline I'll be able to give you a wall of text to help you out. :3

The left hind leg should be further left. Now it looks like it's growing from his side. Also, the wolfs face looks slightly flat, might be because the snout is drawn from the side and the rest of the face looks like it's drawn from a different perspective. Using photo references might help to get the anatomy right. The paws look good to me but I am not an expert on canine anatomy. But hopefully this is at least a little helpful to you.
