Description
Huzzah! Page 17 is done, complete with bad shading AND bad paneling, but not to worry, for I have obtained a book that may help with the latter in the future. Also note: Even if you unwittingly knocked out the big bad earlier, he's probably still not down.

And I'm looking for references and ways to keep that humor going. I should look at what most RPGs do and make fun of those...

I'm looking for stuff seen as typical in Final Fantasy games (Note: Not just the next gen stuff) to poke some jokes at.
As for Disgaea, I've never played Disgaea, other than it being a quirky SRPG so I'd need to know exactly the ins and outs of the game before I could try it.

Disgaea is about Laharl as demon prince whos father has just died, he just wakes up from a 2 year nap when you start the game and the entire game is about him getting to overlord status and learning out do be a good overlord.
The games basis is simple its like Final Fantasy Tatics but you can rest, heal, and shop after each battle as well as save, the leveling system isnt that different except when you get enough Mana from beating enemies and reach rank 3 in the Dark Assymbly you can do a option called Transmigrate which brings you back down to level 1 but raises your characters base stats along with bonus points you can add, as for characters there are the ones you get throuout the story and there are onces you can create called classes.
You can level up items in a place called Item world tho it gets harder with higher grade items. As for the Dark Assymbly you pass bills and what not some do things like add items to the shops, others open up levels, and some even help your character like "add counter attack and movement". Also there is a option in the Dark Assymbly if you are rejected on passing a bill called "Prusuade by Force" that I think explains itself.
Let me know if this helps.

Sounds like a game that makes fun of itself, in a good way.
Still, hopefully, there may be some elements to mess with. Obviously, RPG Cliches would be the likely targets.

Yeah Disgaea is a goofy game.
RPGcliches? Like random battles?

That's an example, albeit overdone in parodies. Nah, something more like a character's weapon of choice, as an example. They seem to use ONLY that weapon type, and no other.

Ah yes espicaly in the later Final Fantasys. In FF6 there is a Acc that will let a character equip anything.

Running sounds like a good plan in that scenario. =o

*nods* No weapons. Angry monster. Caught while bickering amongst ourselves. I would agree there myself.
