Description
I was sitting on the side steps to our backyard deck, taking pics of birds and other nature oddments when I saw this lil' mama going full steam ahead right in front of me. I'm proud that I had presence of mind to keep calm and focus. (I saw her from the corner of my eye). this is one of the VERY rare times I've ever seen a live 'yote. (we call them "yotes" sometimes rather than Coyotes). The across the street neighbor says she's seen her come from the swamp in back of her house and do right down our driveway. She appears to be right on task. She probably had pups hidden and she needed to hunt seriously. She never looked at me. It was a treat to see one in daylight. Or at all.York, MaineΒ May 8, 2016. Wish it was spring again...

Our friend who lives way back from the road and is right next to a trailer park (summer only) has seen and heard some. They are timid, but I have a feeling the summer people who have little kids and little dogs are wary of them. I don't blame them.Β This female is most likely on the hunt all the time...we hear the cubs yipping out in the swamp once in a while, while they were growing. Maine has A LOT of them. (btw my bro hunts coyotes, though he loves all creatures...except TICKS.)

most of our rabid critters are, sadly, foxes and skunks. Both of which I find adorable.Β Β I am wary of any wildlife out in daytime, especially coons.
I try to take a walking stick with me. You never know....
