Description Inspirated on R. A. Heinlein' novel "Starship troopers" and with some elements from my own fictional universe.

These two platoon leaders are getting the last instructions from a starfleet' petty officer before the landing.
On the other hand, there is a love triangle threatened by the war; Petty officer J. Haslam wants that so Master sergeant D. Gillan as Tech sergeant I. Coverdale both come back alive and well.

Petty officer:
"We'll land the rescue shuttle at the cordinates 321-987, and I hope no one of you stupid guys tries to be a hero, got it? (snif!)"

Master Sergeant: "Yeah, ma'am".

Tech Sergeant: "Sure, ma'am".

Petty officer: "Good luck".

I dig the heavy armor the marines are wearing. The officer is the real keeper, though

Protection is good when it comes to combat, especially in space!

There is a code color for the starfleet personell:
Blue: commander and navigation officers
Brown: engineering and maintenance
Green: artillery, internal security and landing technicians

Awesome work coloring the pieces. You really do have some excellent emphasis on designing the battle gear for the soldiers, but also maintaining the design for the officer. Far too often, when someone draws a female wearing anything closely resembling a spacesuit, they just go the perverted route.

Obviously, you use "2001: A Space Odyssey" as a reference for outfits like that.

And, boy, are those some impressive firearms!

Thank you, I think wise guys like R. A. Heinlein and Kenichi Sonoda did all the hard work, and I'm just taking advantage of it.
I have lotsa sketches and model sheets of my "Terran Confederacy" plot, I just used it.
...and, you're right, I can't believe in "space-catsuits". 2001 designs saved my imagination.

I know, but you decided to give it a neat little drawing.

Exactly. I'm not really a fan of the "space-catsuit" idea. If anything, it turns me off as being both lazy and illogical.

Everybody loves lazy and illogical stuff.

GindyDraws In reply to bluessaurus [2011-03-08 18:51:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, yeah.

But I'm merely stating that, as far as illogical goes, it don't really make much sense to make a catsuit that is essentially one-tenth a centimeter thick.

You're right. A spacesuit design NEEDS to make sense; of course you wants show there is a beautiful girl wearing it, but you must respect some limits. And a spacesuit design MUST be cool. So... you need to deal with it.

GindyDraws In reply to bluessaurus [2011-03-09 16:19:16 +0000 UTC]

Well, pretty much so.

You have a pretty girl, but you want to be respectable, but the design must be appealing, too.

I hope so...
You know, they often send the M.I. especially to deal with the dirty tasks...
but I guess you're right, all the brave girls who are left behind in the starship, from the Mrs. captain to the launch bay' petty officers, tries to doesn't think much about what will happen, they just to theirs jobs as better as possible.

Huh... so there aren't any hardass commando-ladies on the M.I?

bluessaurus In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2011-03-07 17:42:07 +0000 UTC]

I dunno.
In my own universe, yes;
but on R. A. Heinlein' "Starship Troopers" canon, there isn't any evidence about it; Heinlein asign ladies only as starfleet navy personell, as captains, pilots, and so on.

Levia-the-Dragon In reply to bluessaurus [2011-03-08 07:13:49 +0000 UTC]

Bah, well I don't put much stock in Starship Troopers canon, given that it's pretty... well I'll not get into that.

bluessaurus In reply to Levia-the-Dragon [2011-03-08 13:49:00 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I agree, ST canon was made for the 50's and 60's readers, so...
Well, Heinlein' vision about military women at the time was a bit... romantic.
Later him made something better: [link]

And 'romantic' I don't think quite covers it...
