One of the most amazing things about the gardens during the winter is the way colors work. Normally, we associate winter with drab, muted colors. However, when I'm at the gardens, I find them much more colorful in the winter than in the summer. In the summer, everything is exploding in color, and it's overwhelming. In the winter, all the endless snow makes what color there is so much rarer and more valuable. The contrast becomes infinitely more striking.
