Description Flonne and Laharl are from Disgaea: Hour of Darkness, which is (c) Nippon Ichi, I think.

Here is the colored version of my present/trade for ~Vaudevillain ! It's in exchange for her Cliff/Mirage pic . My pic's not the best, but it's my first ever attempt at coloring something on the computer, instead of using colored pencils. You won't believe what I used for this...since I don't have Photoshop or anything like that...

*drumroll*

I used Microsoft Picture It! You know, the thing that comes with MS Word if you get the Works package of software (not the Office package that includes Excel and stuff).

*everybody faints*

Betcha didn't see that coming. And boy do I NOT recommend using that program for this purpose, but it's marginally better than MS Paint, and beggars can't be choosers... There's definitely either something wrong with the program or with my computer (or both) because that thing has SERIOUS memory leakage. If I worked on the pic too long, the program would eat up so much memory (RAM) that there wouldn't even be enough left available to save the pic to a file! So I eventually figured out how to do it: I did a little bit (like 10 minutes worth) and then saved, exited the program to free the memory back up, and then reopened it for the next 10 minutes of work. Which means this took about four times longer to do than it should have. It probably would have been faster to paint it with acrylics and scan it in. But it was fun to practice anyway. I may yet do another coloring job like this sometime.

Pencil version / Line Art is here: Gift - pencil
And I must admit I like the pencil version better than this, but I still like it anyway. ^_^

OMIGOSH, you worked so hard on it!! I'm sorry your program caused you so much agony! But man, I LOVE THIS! Thank you soooo much! Flonne and Laharl are oh-so pretty. I'm totally diggin' the moon in all its shiny glory. Flonne looks so calm and peaceful and Laharl looks like the super-spiffy overlord he is (and that's just his back!). YAYS!

I enjoyed doing an art trade with you. THANK YOU TONS! DD

You're welcome tons! It was fun experimenting with using that program, even if it took awhile to use. So, no regrets!

And if you ever decide you want to do an art trade again, just let me know.

I love it! Really! I have photoshop (it was a gift) but have no idea how to use it, and time limits (grrrr).

I love Disgaea! Beat it twice. Flonne and Laharl are just so cute together. Of course, I just love Laharl's character all together!

I don't know if you remember the forums, but dark and I were going back and forth about who was 'One badass freaking overlord!' I now see that it is, in fact, you! Yes, you are one badass freaking overlord! It doesn't sound it but it is a compliment. Just so you know, that line is from Makai Kingdom (it's about an alternate Netherworld), but it's still from the same people who did Disgaea.

The coloring is great!!! Honestly awesome!

Thank you! Mwahaha! I shall throw Laharl from his throne and become overlord myself! Well, maybe not.

Wow, I haven't been in the forums in...forever! Geez, we kinda let that 'Popcorn' story die, didn't we? And I had some ideas, too...something like giving newly fashion-conscious Albel a little pet (kinda like those little dogs some of the stereotypically snooty people get) but instead it's a little porcupine named Sparky! With yellow ends to his/her quills like Albel's hair. Not the most original thing in the world...but it seems an appropriate pet for Albel in a humor story, and it's something my dad wanted me to add to my fanfiction story...of course, he also wanted me to add 'Lava-mon' as the villain...and something to do with a flying carrot pursued by a flying juicer...

Hey, any advice for Disgaea you can give me? Especially when I'm just starting out. I mean, I tried out the dark assembly thing to get them to approve that 'extort money' bill, and they all say 'loathe', and then I gave them something that they said 'Must have!' on, but their opinion didn't change one bit...? Plus, I hate giving them stuff when I haven't cleaned the residents out of it, so I'm trying to clean the residents out of some stuff, but of course going through the item world means I just get more stuff to clean! ^_^ And all I can afford, mana-wise, are 'incompetent' sidekicks...well, maybe now I could get something 'average', but what I'd LIKE is to get some geniuses going once I've got the mana, but then it's back to the dark assembly thing again...

Yeah...the dark assembly. I didn't do much of that until I had leveled up and could seriously change their mind through force! Mwhahaha! As for the underlings, I got what I could to start with and built them up. By the end of the game I had to remove some because I had way too many monsters. Oh, and once you get leveled up, pick up a monster and throw them into your base panel. Either your people will pulverize 'em and they join you or they will kill all of your people and the base panel will disappear. That's how I got those catwomen on my side - I chunked them in and let my lackeys handle them. Yup, Disgaea brings out the overlord in all of us! But for starting out, I would use my items to level up in. You know, go into the iteam and beat the baddies - or revisit worlds and level up that way.

Popcorn...I tried but somehow no one else seemed to be posting. Actually, the only place I think that's not dead on the forums is the Alphia side. Those folks talk a lot. I love the idea of a porcupine named Sparky. That's funny. Your dad sounds cool! Hehehe, but somehow I'm not sure about a flying carrot juicer fitting in that well!

Throw a monster on my base panel? You mean that blue-glowy square that I deploy people out of? Interesting...nothing in the instruction book mentioned anything like that...

Heh, I'm in Episode 4 now, where we're trying to get Flonne's pendant back, and I'm still only level 16 (with Laharl, who's my highest person), even with all the items I cleaned the specialists out of...Speaking of specialists, do you know where I can find out what some of the specialists actually do? I mean, the ones on the stats like ATK or HIT are self-evident, but the 'Bonus' ones...like...oh what was that one called...a Statistician, I think...I have no idea what those do. I could do a web search, too, I suppose (and I probably will). But I'm lazy, so if you know some of those off the top of your head...

I shall perhaps attempt to add Sparky to Popcorn, then! If I can get some inspiration, that is...

Yup, it's that blue glowy thing. I did it once by accident and got all my people killed. Then I looked it up on line and figured out to get stronger than do it.

Don't really know off the top of my head. I've played too many other video games inbetween. Hehehe, I wish I had a better memory, but afraid not. Even for my fanfics I have to look things up.

Sparky is cool! I just know the fathom of him/her but all the same I love the critter!

Whoa! This is really good. You are my hero. Very impressive.

I feel your pain. I've been trying to get your pictured (remember that?) colored but it's seriously turning into a 'how many people does it take' sort of thing. In a way it's incredibly hilarious. But annoying. Mostly the second one.

I use MS paint but I usually have to do my work pixel by pixel. Which is worth it when you've successfully put your brother's head on a goose. Best. Photo edit. Ever.

Thanks!

Yeah I remember that pic. ^_^ I'm not too worried; I know you'll get it done when you get it done, and I know you've got other stuff going on, too. I wish I had your patience to do stuff pixel by pixel in MS Paint...somehow I can never get stuff to turn out the way I want to in there...though I suppose it would just take practice.

You put your brother's head on a goose!? Cool! He must've loved that... ^_^ Of course, maybe you've already done something fiendish with it, but... If the result looks like a photo you could take it to one of those photo-kiosks where you can order digital photos and print it out, and then stick it somewhere embarrassing...like on his locker at school (if that's applicable) or something. Maybe get it inserted into his yearbook! Yes! ^_^ Geez, I'm mean...
