I love this one, so much. Just want to run my fingers through his soft stubbly hair. And I love the calm on his face and the peacefulness of his expression.

Thanks for the kind words love
Yes I think I needed me an image where he'd appear calm and peaceful .
Sometimes I let myself being lost in dark thoughts about his last days and so ... a picture like this remembers me that I can be wrong after all . He certainly had sweet moments .

I get the strong feeling that, regardless of what TMZ or whatever the #$%@ so called 'news' outlets said about him, his sweet moments were the norm for him. There was never an interview he gave or any kind of appearance where I didn't fully identify with where he was coming from, even if we could see he was walking straight into a pothole on occasion and all we could do is shout, "Heath, don't!" from a long distance away, too far for him to hear. For being an old soul, he was still a young man after all.
But back to your work! I'm still trying to figure out how you get the overall softness. What tools do you use?

Aw Babe it brokes my heart to saw you even quote a can of trash like TMZ and any other of this kind . Whatever they could write WE know better . So I really don't give a s** about them and anyway I don't read them .
Heath was someone of an intense kind and a old soul . A combination very strong and I know he probably experienced some "outlaw" stuff but I don't care , any artist can be pushed and helped by whatever he needs to if it brings something to them which helps the creative cursus.
I don't know if I make myself clear on this but I hope you understand what I mean .
An the important thing is to know that if there was probably some experiences it never became a lifestyle . That's the only thing to consider .

About the softness...well I'd say that drawing on Bristol Paper is very helping on this area You can lightly shade the lines of the pencil with cotton balls or Q-Tips and it kinda 'melts' a little , with this effect of blurr . That's why I like the Bristol , it's tricky in some way because it slips like on ice ... but you can take advantages of it as well , lol

I know exactly what you mean, you are perfectly clear. The way I look at it is: So many media outlets tried to paint this horrible evil portrait of him after he passed. And yet--what is the worst they could come up with? Not that much. When you look at the news and see all the awful atrocities committed every day by some specimens of humanity--how does Heath's partying even rate? It doesn't. He was a young man blessed with beauty and talent and he had a lot of money. And he enjoyed life. He was a lovely person inside and out and I am convinced that he would have grown into even more of one had he lived past his twenties, when responsibility really starts to take hold. But we'll never get to see it, and it still breaks my heart.

Sorry to be such a Debbie Downer there, I'll stop now. I do want to ask--if you can blur things so nicely on the Bristol Paper, doesn't it smudge easily afterwards though? Do you spray it with a fixative?

You make it clear yourself hon : they tried to paint an evil portrait ... but when you look at the result you can see that the public didn't buy these bullshits , at least not the large majority of people .
And did you see how with the phenomenal success of TDK then Heath nominated for the Oscar all of a sudden every newspaper and website was all with him , praised him in the most disgusting way if you think of what they said just before .
And you know love , it was because he was blessed by beauty and talent that they were all on him . It's always like it . When someone worthy dies all the inferior minds spit their hatred because they know they'll never be as much loved and bright and they just seize the chance to leave out their bile knowing they're not at great risk now .
I wouldn't be the liver of any of these pigs .

Heath will stay now as this genius actor who played an unbelievable Joker ( for the majority of the public it won't be about BBM first as it is for us ) and not the image of what these poor wastes of the humanity tried to show about him . That's all that matters .

About the Bristol , no the drawing stays very stable afterwards no prob , but of course I actually spray it with a fixative like all my drawings on any paper, very carefully because of the potential drops !

Thanks again , both for the AND the

I always try my best working on Heath's face because I feel that I received so much from him !
Given what I read on your Journal I know you understand what I mean

He was such a huge personality , one of these human beings who can really teach you things about life if you try to understand the way he worked , the way he observed things , the way he spoke about what should really counts ...

My english is crappy as hell but I hope you get some of what I try to say , lol !

I think you captured the mature man, with all the complexities that come with it. I like this a lot, especially the expressive eyes. Yes, it's a sad day, sad beyond telling.

It was such a strange day Janie . Thinking about him all the time by answering to the comments on my Portraits and reading the Posts of the other members of the Community too...I was kinda electrified .
And now , I just feel... so cold . So , so cold .
Thanks for you remark about the eyes , when I draw Heath it's always first about the eyes .His way of watching is SO deep...

Yes, it was very very weird. Dave Cullen's forum crashed because everyone was there at once but now, like you say, it feels very cold.
His eyes were surely the windows of the soul and it was a very deep, old, wise soul.

Janie

I'll try to make progress again and again I really want to work
Thank you so much for the so kind words
