You must be Amarican ... only Amaricans say these things with so much conviction.
I am afraid to offend someone if I keep writing ... but you guys need to look closer at things than only at what you're taught by others. If I am making an incorrect statement here please correct me, I have never read a bible before but I need to say this.
First of all one thing. Jesus was not white, as he is always pictured. You can tell simply by looking at where he was born. He was also a jew.
Secondly if anything, he has doomed the world with the religion that originated from his supporters.
It is an aggressive religion and has always been because it allowes only one true god, for not only for its members but for everyone.
This caused so countless wars all over the world for 2000 years, people who had to chose between beliving in your savior of the world or death.
Just think of Australia, Africa or your own continent. South America in the 16th century is probably the worst example.
It's not even making it much better that those who killed all those innocent civilians, thanks to Jesus who forgave their sinns went to heaven and those bloody pagans who didn't want to belive probably hott in hell ...?
I'm sorry about this but ... I simply don't understand this.
Hope I didn't scare you with this wall of text, I'm sure you just wanted to be nice and give me an answer

Hi, I would like to give an answer to your question
I'm Mexican, and I can say with absolute confidence that Jesus saved me. I have read the whole bible more than once, so I have studied and questioned what I've been taught, and I'm certain it is true.
In your first statement you're right, Jesus was not white, I think that He was an ordinary looking Israeli (dark skin/hair/eyes), and the only passage that gives a hint at how he looked like is Isaiah 53:2 " He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.β
I don't know if you know what the bible says about Jesus saving us, so I'm going to share what it teaches.
The gospel means "the good news", good news about what? Well, the bible teaches that God is holy, and we humans had sinned since the begging of times, so we are separated from God (and we can't do anything about it!). We are condemned to hell because we are sinners, and you can wonder why such a severe punishment. The reason is that we've committed so much sin (as individuals) to such a great great, powerful and perfect Being, that the punishment of our sins must be equally severe. The good news (gospel) is that God loved us while we were sinners (what a great love!) that in order to restore our relationship with Him, he sent Jesus to the world to pay our punishment, and died (and 3 days later He rose from the grave!). And now the bible tells is that if we believe in Jesus, we can be forgiven!
I really really would like you to watch this 4 minute video, this is the essence of the gospel: youtu.be/bRhkZEsCcbE
About the wars you say, I'm aware that there have been countless wars in the name of Jesus in vain, I condemn those wars as much I think you do. In the other hand Jesus never taught us to do war to people that don't believe in Him, it was actually the opposite, to love our enemies, and that we would be persecuted because of our faith in Him, and that we could even face the ultimate consequences (there are Christians that are being killed because of their faith in these days).
I do really hope that you can read this, I wanted to give you a more specific answer, and if you have more questions feel free to ask me here our in a note
I hope you have a good day

I can understand why you feel the way you do about our faith. I'd just like to clear a few things up for you, yeah I'm american, but I know I dont speak for all Americans when I say that I know Jesus was not white, and most every good Christian knows that he was born Jewish, since there was no Christianity yet, because He would be the one to bring that to us. And yes it has been the cause of much violence in the world, but just about any belief can bring about violence. Christianity isnt the only religion with violent people, it just so happens that its so big, so you're going to get the confused and violent people doing things and thinking that they're doing the right thing for God, but any REAL and GOOD christian knows that God wants us to bring peace and love to the world, as a way to show people Jesus' great love for us.
I'm sorry if some of this seems scrambled, I'm not great at organizing my thoughts for people. But I do very much appreciate how mature and respectful you're being about this, its a rare thing on the internet, and it makes me happy.
Thank you strangerΒ Β Β

Oh, I did mean to be respectful I mean I know that so many people belive in what Chistianity teaches, I only didn't understand why.
I am a bit surprised myself to not get yelled at, it's truely rare. I was just looking to get an explanation for this, I have been thinking about it for a long time and it didn't make sense to me. I thought most people who belive in god probably don't know or ignore how many wars have been fought and how man innocent have been killed on behalf of their peace bringer. But of course you're right, there are evil and greedy people everywhere, the true reason for what the Europeans did in other parts of the world in the past was pure greed for gold and power justified by missionary thoughts.
I think the one thing I don't like about the christian's belives is the 'this one god is the true god and you all shall belive in him only' thing.
Thank you, too for responding^^
I think I understand it a bit better, now
