Time to unmask our mysterious Batwoman, when I started drawing her I had no idea who she was behind the mask. I was going back and fourth with many characters who had taken the Batwoman mantle in various media such as Kathy Kane, Helena Bertenilli, Sonia Alcana and Ryan Wilder, but decided to go with a complete unknown character who actually can be this version of Batwoman. But who is she and why she is...Batwoman? Good question, her name is Rachael Caspian, many of you might know her as Rachael Dawes from The Dark Knight Trilogy, yes the one who's played by Katie Holmes and Maggie Gee..something. So why she is Batwoman? Well she appeared in one comic as Bruce Wayne's love interest, it was a follow up of Year One named Year Two (duh), but lets say in my universe she isn't Wayne's love interest, the most important thing is her father, you see before Batman Gotham had a scary vigilante named The Ripper, and it was her father.

So in my universe Rachael was trained from her childhood by her father who quit being The Ripper because of an injury, she supposed to be the new Ripper and continue her father's legacy. But when her father passes away she founds out the truth of her late father's brutality on Gotham's criminals. Since she has taken an oath to fight injustice she honors her father by adopting the Bat symbol which also gave the people of Gotham hope. In day she's a attorney of law and at night a dark vigilante fighting crime in her own way, afraid to loose herself into vengeance and cross the line like her father before her.
