Description NOTE: THIS IS NOT HOW MY TRIDENT LOOKS LIKE ATM. I REDID SOME THINGS TO IT WITH THE NEW UPDATED INSTRUCTIONS HERE. FOR A PIC TO SEE THE UPDATED TRIDENT GO THROUGH MY GALLERY: [link]

Ahh I finally finished my trident. It's not perfect but I still really like how it came out ;a;

Supplies (All can be found at Joanns):
-Wooden pole/stick - $3-4
- 2 PACKAGES OF MODEL MAGIC $12
-Scotch Painters Tape (or anything similar) - $4
-Aluminum Foil - $5
-2 packages of simple Copper Wire $6-7
-Gold Spray Paint (The good shiny kind) - $8

Instructions:
1) With your wooden stick you need to drill a hole on each end about 3 inches from the edge. Be sure it's symmetrical so when you put everything together it won't be coming out all weird.

2) Get the copper wire and fold it in half. Then in half again. So it's basically 4 lines of wire together. Twist it so it's thinner and slide it through the hole.

3) Try to form it into the basic trident shape. The two ends, we're not doing the middle yet.

4) Get your aluminum foil and grab a good about. Scrunch it up around the wires to get some meat on those wire bones. Be sure to also scrunch it up around where the wood and hole is.

5) For the center part where you still have those 3 inches of wood, Scrunch up the foil around that too so you have a sharp end. (Be sure it's about the same length as the two sharp ends you made.

-At this point it won't be sturdy and it'll be lopping around but thats where the tape comes in-

6) Wrap the tape tightly all around the aluminum foil. Also wrap the tape tightly around center where the wire comes out and back over towards the rest of everything. Do enough so that the curves are thicker then the tips which should be thin.
(Tip: Be sure the tape is tight with no air bubbles or gaps inside or else it'll be difficult with the clay part)

7) Get a good chunk of model magic and start wrapping it around the trident. Use your hands to squeeze it against the foil and tape. It won't come out smooth yet

(Tip: After you have a section of the trident covered in clay, dip your hands in water and start rubbing and squeezing the trident, go as fast as you can, this'll make it smooth and not have any cracks.)

Repeat process on each end.

8) Once you're done spray paint that shit.

If you liked this tutorial but think it'll be easier to understand with actual pictures or video, please comment saying so! If I get enough feedback I'll make another trident for tutorial sake and sell the final piece on my etsy account.

I just wanted to say you can get some on these items cheaper. Micheal's sells the stick for $0.60-$1 and you can get the paint for about a dollar or so there too. Orchards has the wire for 1.49 fr 50 ft.

great tutorial - i have a question though, doesn't using model magic make it super brittle after it dries?

Sorry to be a bother, but could you remake this as a picture tutorial? I've been trying to make it, but it's a bit confusing to me...
