I am a big fan of Airachnid and let me get this straight: I hate Breakdown. So my reaction to this scene was more like...

Dreadwing, Breakdown, Skyquake, and Cliffjumper. Dreadwing and Skyquake have red optics, Breakdown's faceplate is red, and Cliffjumper is obviously red. And they all DIED.

He didn't really have time, plus when his hammer is stuck in a web, he couldn't move his shoulder down so it was impossible really. Just waiting for is fate.

Did the episode explained that? Seems like a weak explanation to me. Besides, if he had enough time to try and wriggle his hammer free, he could have easily have had enough time to, you know, try and aim his shoulder cannon. He doesn't need complete mobility in his shoulders to aim, and even if he had shot (and missed horribly, given the bad angle or even agility from Airachnid), at least it would have been more convincing than what we got.
It's like someone's foot being stuck on a railroad track, with a train approaching (not lightning speed, but just enough to where you know it won't stop) and instead of using item B, when item A is unusable, they just wriggle and wriggle and don't even bother trying to resort to weapon B.
You don't give someone a shoulder cannon (that use some mobility in its own right and doesn't fully require shoulder movement) and then have them just... sit there and accept their fate when they know they're about to die, and not once attempt to use it.
I'm sad he's gone, but his death was extremely weak and riddled with so many easy solutions. Now, had she completely disabled the cannon or even he ran out of bullets (or fired and missed horribly), he wouldn't have looked like a completely derpatron in that situation.

There can be a lot going through your mind at the time, and Breakdown's thoughts were really somewhere else, he just wanted to smash her, so maybe switching to his shoulder cannon wasn't his first idea.

So... what you're saying is that his stupidity is so profound that he didn't think to go with the really powerful and really useful shoulder cannon, even if he had missed.
I can't help but wonder what on Earth could preoccupy a mind so much that basic survival instincts don't kick in.

When Breakdown and Dreadwing were taken to go kill Airachnid, she knew what was happening from the start, she was really just teasing him really, she knew she could get to Breakdown a lot easier than Dreadwing, she lured him didn't she example 'I know we've ever seen eye to eye' he probably just wanted to smash her and that's all he thought, it's not that e was dumb just emotions taking over.

Still, it's going to end up making the character look a whole lot dumber than he really is if the writers don't even address the shoulder cannon.
Easy solution? Say he had ran out of ammo (he fired it a few times earlier and maybe Airachnid was counting on him to run out. She could have pointed that out.) Or have her disable it with her webbing (or just have destroyed it first).
It's a Chekov's Gun. You don't introduce the weapon, a potentially important weapon/plot device, and then never address it. Not only does it make the character(s) look stupid, but it's really a slap to the face to the audience.
If someone like myself could easily come up with good explanations and not the writers of the show themselves, that's a problem.
