Description This is my graduate film from Sheridan College. It's been online for a while now, but I'm just getting a chance now to post it on DA.

In short, we get from September to the end of March to make our short films. I ended up restarting mine at the beginning of February : |
So if anyone was wondering why I don't have backgrounds in there, it's because I had absolutely no time and wanted to focus on my animation. Thanks for watching!

Very watchable! I really like the liveliness.

What are those things that flicker on and off up in the upper right corner? I know there are key drawings, and breakdowns, but what are those little diagrams that show when/where to draw the inbetweens called? Do you call them "timing charts" or something else?

Again, well done!

I feel this is a very solid animation. It's smooth, and you have great follow through, BUT, i feel this needed more weight. The movements lacked a true sense of gravity, It was less bothersome with the monkey since the character itself was very light seeming, but the tiger and especially the elephants needed that extra kind of thump. All that being said, good work. You shot this on 2's right?

This is so beautifully done! Your characters are so lively and expressive! Such high quality work, and very deserving of a DD!

I realize this animation's a bit old now and you'll likely never retouch it - but my only real critique is the weight of the characters. I'd love to see those elephants looking heavy when they walk

Really though, this is gorgeous and I love it!

bmaras In reply to Robo-Shark [2011-11-30 21:19:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I'll never want to continue working on this, I think I've actually thrown out a lot of my drawings because I needed the space and they're so heavy. Definitely agree about the weight of the elephants All I see is mistakes now.

Wow! This looks NICE, the animation is so smooth and life-like! The characters have distinctive movements and are convincing. I always enjoy watching well-made animation, especially when they're made by talented animators who really know what they are doing and clearly love their job. Congratulation on the DD, you definitely deserve it!

woooow this is so amazing!! I love the lines, they all fit so nicely to each other <3 So you drew it traditionally, right? Did you use a lightbox?
awesome

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bmaras In reply to NoreyDragon [2011-11-30 21:16:47 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah, this was all done traditionally. And yes, there is a light under my animation disk that I use. It's not always on, just when I need it. Some animators use it 100% of the time, others rarely use it. It comes down to preference and what you're comfortable with.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NoreyDragon In reply to bmaras [2011-12-01 11:32:59 +0000 UTC]

Awesome fact! How much does such a light box cost? When I looked them up they were about $50, but I'm not sure whether I found the right ones...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

bmaras In reply to NoreyDragon [2011-12-01 16:36:24 +0000 UTC]

I don't use a "lightbox" exactly, you can't rotate those and the drawing angle is usually really low. Maybe you'll find this site helpful [link]

Haha funzas.

WOAH that looks so professional!! That's what I've been waiting for in like...forever. Traditional animation can be a little hard without that since the frames don't fit to each other too perfectly D:
