Thank you all for participating in the event sorry it took so long but i had to get the Vhs filter for those that weren't able to do it.

Taking a rad time machine back to the totally tubular 80’s!...’cept we’re focusing more on the other side of the Pacific for this event. Japan’s early age of animation had a distinct style and charm of its own, bringing to us such classics like Ranma 1⁄2, Invader Lum, Sailor Moon, and so on. And we here at the Society wanted to harken back to this time period, honoring the things that may have inspired us to draw/get into TG stuff in the first place. What better way to do that then by starring in our own anime as well?
‐ Mad science could do just about anything back in the 80’s. One swig of the wrong mixture and you could become anything. Usually though, it just turned you into a girl or something. Seems like Leona found this out quite nicely.
‐ A daring life of adventure, espionage and constant treachery and misdirections, the world of Lupin the 3rd is rife with drama. Airilin here seems to have taken quite a shine to that particular branch of 80’s anime, and seems to be taking a detour in this room before going back on the run with her stolen goods.
‐ The original otaku waifu, Jo made one heck of a nice choice cosplaying as Invader Lum. The cute little horns and the tiger stripe bikini sure do wonders for her. Hopefully she doesn’t have Lum’s over obsession with a certain someone however~
‐ Brenda seems to be portraying a bit of tsun tsun attitude at the moment. It does make her look cute, to be honest. While she may not be representing a specific anime, she’s more or less portraying the actual art style of the decade as a whole.
‐ Similar situation with Gertrude, although you can consider her acting as the dere dere to Brenda’s tsun.
‐ Comedic anime tended to have a different art style than serious anime to draw more attention to the slapstick humor. Emily’s emulating the Osomatsu‐kun style from the 80’s, a very comedy heavy series. This doesn’t do anything to draw away from how cute she looks in the style though.
‐ The one that most of us remember being the pioneer for TG stuff, Reena’s paying tribute to the insanely popular Ranma 1⁄2. ...Paying tribute by falling into Jusenkyo’s Spring of Drowned Girl. We might need some hot water on standby, something tells me Reena won’t be the only one who’ll be falling into the spring today.
‐ Ever notice a lot of male anime protagonists have ponytails? Usually action oriented anime too. Regardless, that’s Ariennes normal hairstyle, I’m just saying he could fit really well into one of those types of shows. Even got the garb for it.
‐ Cammie did something a little differently here, bringing in some of the western 80’s flair to the east. Gotta love that rad outfit, and that bodaciously spiky hair. She makes sense as playing the part of the foreign exchange student in these situations.
‐ drawn by Lozen’s also referencing an 80’s icon at the time, although more prominent on american soils, by holding a distinct bag of chips, in their classic packaging from that time
‐:iconSD‐The‐Doodler: While the original Sanrio brand dates older than the 80’s, their popular mascot Hello Kitty had an anime around that time. Berry seems to have gotten caught up in that wonderful world of chibi animals.
‐ Another reference to Ranma, although not from the spring this time. Leaci is dressed up as one of the other characters on the show, the ever lovable tsundere Akane Tendo.
To wrap things up, Dusk got hit with the short end of the stick...literally. That wand turned him into a chibi neko fairy, to emphasize and represent the magical girl/fantasy anime that existed at the time.
