Nicely done man, did you draw in the triangles of the poly sphere in Photoshop or all in C4d?

Bmor-Creative In reply to eslib [2013-04-19 11:35:39 +0000 UTC]

The sphere and array of smaller spheres around it (including lines) are all C4D. The smaller, slightly transparent triangles were done in Photoshop with the pen tool on its shape mode. Then I just adjusted the opacity. Glad you like it

Looks really awesome! What are the lines around the ball called, and how did you do it?

Bmor-Creative In reply to Driex [2013-01-05 02:48:06 +0000 UTC]

It is done in Cinema 4D. I took a plain sphere (305 cm radius) and added the "atom array" effect to it. So that the sphere is contained within the array.

Like so:

ATOM ARRAY
|
-- SPHERE

All I did after that is set object properties in the array to:

Cylinder Radius: .3 cm
Sphere Radius: 3cm
Subdivisions: 10

I should also point out that the sphere is set to type: tetrahedron. Different settings give a new effect.

In Cinema 4D it's a sphere put inside an "Atom Array."

Now to tweak it to look good! haha
Might I ask how you did your lighting?

Bmor-Creative In reply to DoctorChase [2012-11-26 12:33:45 +0000 UTC]

I'm about to head off this morning, but it's a 3 point setup. Spotlight angled in the front left. A "window" light to the front right, small soft box with an array to make it look like a window (or use an alpha testure.) A softbox light to the back left.

Spotlight is 1620% luminance with 100% diffusion, window light is 218% luminance, and the softbox is 380% luminance. All white.

Then just a white floor under it all for something to bounce off.

Dude, this looks amazing. I've been looking to get into Cinema 4D, but never knew where to start. Can you suggest any tutorials/resources?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bmor-Creative In reply to Nokadota [2012-11-19 23:42:37 +0000 UTC]

I literally just got into it. I started off with just Googling random things like "awesome cinema 4d tutorials" haha. Some good sites are CreativeCOW, Greyscalegorilla, and cg.tutsplus. I'd look into Lynda too, they might have some free tutorials. Just Google and see what you can find! Good luck, I think it's a lot of fun. It really adds an extra resource into your media.

Nice work. Of course, you can always improve on the reflective cliche. The reason for that is that Cinema 4D always renders out those same reflections.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bmor-Creative In reply to submicron [2012-11-13 04:10:12 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that's a good point. The reflection doesn't make much sense considering the subject. Thank you for the feedback!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

submicron In reply to Bmor-Creative [2012-11-13 06:23:01 +0000 UTC]

Is not that the reflection is pointless. It's simply how Cinema 4D renders its reflection. In Photoshop is where I do my post work. BTW, the whole thing is wonderful.

Bmor-Creative In reply to submicron [2012-11-14 01:30:02 +0000 UTC]

Oh, I'd setup a studio type thing with two softboxes, one being a window, and a spot light. It's from some tutorial I'd seen haha, probably why it looks so typical.
