With some recent pieces I've paid for or received I've clearly been a bit obsessed with the idea of having Jessie depicted as a classic 80s/90s character from a Beat 'Em Up game (or belt scrollers as they're also known) like Final Fight or Streets of Rage for example. Traditionally, Jessie would identify more as the typical damsel in distress that tend to pop up in those games as a means of giving the protagonists a reason to rush through various locations and beating up hordes of baddies along the way. Marian Kelly from the Double Dragon series and Jessica Haggar from Final Fight being two note worthy examples and also two of Jessie's idols. However, there have been a few rare cases where a member of the crime fighting team of protagonists is the one who gets kidnapped. Adam Hunter from Streets of Rage probably being the most well known example in SoR2. Thanks to a favorite streamer who specializes in Beat 'Em Up games, I've been exposed to a whole multitude of games from the genre. More examples of the hero needing to rescue a damsel in distress would be games like Vigilante, Tough Turf. The latter actually having said damsel being the final boss at the end. For reasons...
Two other examples of this where the damsel is also a member of the protagonist team that has to rescue her are Vendetta (Crime Fighters 2) and Legionnaire. Cute Kate and Judy respectively are either being trained by one of their teammates or are an active member on the same level as the rest of the group and just so happened to end up getting captured. This is what inspired this version of Jessie as a Beat 'Em Up character. Someone who is a capable and equal member of the team of local crime fighting vigilantes, but has a habit of getting themselves captured, abducted, kidnapped, etc. and it's up to their teammates to come to their rescue. Taking a bit from The Bouncer, another game that features a friend/member of the group of protagonists being kidnapped and needing them to rescue her, I imagine Jessie and his friends would be bouncers or workers at a local club in order to earn a living in between fighting gangs and corrupt elites. While each member of the group has their own group of fans amongst the local citizens and customers of the club they work at, Jessie in particular has the larger following and is a bit more of a celebrity of the group due to his feminine appearance, sexy attire, and out-going personality. Jessie isn't afraid to play up his celebrity a little when taking his shift as the outside bouncer, often getting cheers and cat calls prompting him to wave and blow a few kisses while working up the crowd and get them excited for a night fun inside. In a way, Jessie has become the unofficial mascot of the group being the only one of the team being the closest thing to a "token female" as they have. His petite size also makes him a bit of an underdog, especially against much bigger threats, despite how capable a fighter he is. Being able to fight consistently in a skirt and high heels has also garnered him a lot of respect as well as some ire for not being practically dressed to be a fighter. Jessie just uses it as motivation and even to show off a little to prove that even impracticality can be overcome and even used as an advantage in certain circumstances. The amount of times his opponents didn't think he could kick as high as he can because he wears a miniskirt and high heels often has left them open for a wicked roundhouse kick to the jaw, usually staggering them at least long enough for Jessie to combo them if not knock them out entirely. However, no amount of skill and talent can overcome a sneak attack and a good stealthy kidnapping from down a dark alley way where no one will see the pretty femboy being grapped and carried into a van and abducted to a secret location where he will be kept bound and gagged like a helpless damsel in distress in need of rescue...
