Jessica Evans had an artistic side ever since she was little, and was always drawn to music and dancing. Graduating from a distinguished music academy with studies in classic music, and gifted with talent and a sweet, melodic voice that she honed diligently over the years, she managed to win an important music contest that earned her first contract with a big music company. The young brunette was quickly becoming an accomplished singer on the road to success, even called the "Siren of the Stage" by the media, her melodic voice and gorgeous looks giving her what the producers and mangers liked to call “the whole package”, but even with all the buzz and the bright lights, Jessica managed to stay humble and grounded, focused on achieving her dream and doing what she loved. Jessica's life however, would soon take an unexpected turn and change overnight when she was kidnapped by an occult group to be used in a mystical ritual, which intended to summon a kitsune, an ancient fox spirit. The ritual went completely awry though and resulted in the entire group disappearing in a dark void and a terrified Jessica not only surviving, but receiving mystical powers. The statuesque brunette tried to ignore the whole ordeal and continue on like nothing happened, but she could no longer focus on her career and she would often wake up at night from strange dreams.

One evening, as she was returning back to her apartment, wondering how she could move on and what she would do with these strange new powers, she heard a scream from a nearby alley. She moved cautiously to the scene and witnessed a young woman getting mugged. Without much thinking, Jessica rushed in and used her new abilities to take out the mugger and rescue the young woman, who looked at her scared for a moment but eventually smiled at her gratefully and thanked her before she left, leaving Jessica deep in thought and with an odd sense of joy that she was able to save someone. As some time passed, Jessica slowly grew accustomed to her new abilities and accepted them as a gift, as she felt the calling to a greater purpose. After a while, she retired from the lights of publicity and decided to keep a lower profile as a singer in Skyland City's local clubs, while at the same time she put on a mask and turned into the mysterious and enchanting Nightingale.

Powers and Abilities

Enhanced Strength: Nightingale is fairly strong, able to lift up to 4 to 5 metric tons. Having trained in kickboxing and self-defense since her teenage years, she is also quite adept in hand to hand combat.

Flight: The heroine is able to fly at decent speed, allowing her to move easily at any part of Skyland City and giving her a good advantage while fighting.

Night Vision: The tall brunette’s supernatural sight allows her to see even in the deepest night and darkest shadows.

Shadow and Magical Energy Manipulation: Nightingale’s most potent and powerful abilities are her magically given powers that allow her to manipulate shadows and magical energy in a variety of ways.

Shadow Talons: Nightingale can form long, sharp, shadowy talons or a single long blade, able to slash through physical objects, inflicting intense sensory damage. They don’t physically cut through the target but inflict the sense of pain, making it quite an effective move. She can also make the talons denser and briefly cut through physical objects as well, for more utility.

Energy Shield: Nightingale is able to form a powerful force field around her, allowing her to block incoming attacks. The longer she holds it though, the weaker she gets.

Shadow Binding: A mid-range move that allows the heroine to extend and connect her shadow with the shadow of her target, giving her temporary control of their body. She can use it on multiple targets at once, but the more she binds, the harder and more exhausting it is for her to control them. It’s also a move that leaves her fairly vulnerable against targets she is not controlling, so she uses it cautiously.

Shadow Phasing: Nightingale has the ability to briefly phase through material objects allowing her to avoid incoming attacks and maneuver easily through physical objects. This ability however seems to be nullified if she physically restrained, like tied up with ropes or grabbed by an opponent.

Equipment

Magical Sash: During her earlier days, Nightingale discovered another group from the same cult that had kidnapped her and took them down with a vengeance. When inspecting their lair, she found a dark blue sash that had been enchanted to be very strong and nearly unbreakable. Thinking that it could come in handy, the heroine decided to take it and it has been part of her costume ever since.

Interesting Facts

Jessica enjoys most kinds of music, but she has a particular taste for jazz and Latin music. She sometimes likes to relax by enjoying her favourite music and taking long, warm baths.

Despite her powers and decent combat skills she tends to have a weakness for powerful, dominant women, something that makes her somewhat vulnerable against aggressive and seductive villainesses.

She knows how to play acoustic guitar and piano very well, she is a passionate and talented dancer and really enjoys Latin dances.

Jessica has a refined taste for fine, aged old red wine and aged whisky, as well as freshly roasted coffee and dark chocolate.

Her ample bosom and long legs are rather sensitive.

She was particularly athletic during high school, being rather good in volleyball with her skills and height.

The dark purple shades in her long, black hair were an unexpected result of the magical ritual, much like her powers, but Jessica has grown to really like them.
