Background
Emily is an enthusiastic young woman who always had a fascination with history, especially antiquity and medieval history. She graduated college with top marks, got a doctoral degree, she got a position as assistant professor in Skyland City’s Museum of History and Antiquity, and eventually Emily became a history professor in Skyland City College. Pushed by her fascination with history and exploring, as well as her adventurous side, Emily would often take part in archaeology expedition. It was during one of those expeditions that Emily explored some recently discovered ancient ruins, rumoured to hold some sort of treasure, where she discovered a set of particularly interesting ancient artifacts, inside a dusty wooden chest. There was a metallic golden belt with a mystical, glowing, red orb that looked like a gem and a pair of golden bracelets. The mysterious artifacts were unknown in age and origin, and the only thing that Emily found was an old parchment in Latin that described how the red gem had simply “fallen from the sky”. What also surprised her was that the artifacts were in a near perfect condition, despite how old they were supposed to be. Intrigued, Emily put it aside so she could examine it latter, but the expedition would turn out a lot more perilous that she expected.

It was late at the evening as Emily carried the wooden chest back to her truck, when she found herself pursued by some ruin raiders who had heard the rumours about the treasure. The young redhead tried to escape but found herself cornered. As the armed raiders closed in on her, Emily opened the chest. She briefly wondered whether she should just hand the artifacts over, but quickly realised it would not help her. Besides, she could not simply hand over precious ancient artifacts to some raiders who would sell them to the black market. She took the belt, noticing that the buckle was still functional and put it on, thinking that it would be easier to run without caring the entire chest. Emily was about to put on the bracelets as well and run as fast as she could when she was suddenly enveloped in a golden light for mere moments, felling a wave of energy washing over her entire body until she nearly passed out. She struggled to keep her senses when the raiders reached her and pointed their guns at her. Emily raised her arms to defend herself, but instead she shot two powerful energy blasts that sent the raiders flying before they crashed on the trees and the ground, knocked out. Emily’s eyes widened in surprise, as she slowly looked at her arms before she turned towards the still glowing belt around her waist. Realising that these artifacts were more dangerous than they appeared, Emily removed the belt and put it back to the chest. She returned to the camp, reported the event and the local force apprehended the raiders, but kept the discovery of the discovery of the chest hidden, deciding to take it with her until she learnt more about them.

Emily has yet to uncover much about the mysterious and powerful magical artifacts, other than that they are ancient and possibly from an unknown civilization. However, seeing how Skyland City was filled with crime and danger, and inspired by the heroic Firestorm who had rescued her from a mugging when she was still in high school, she decided to use her new powers for a higher cause, thus becoming the heroine Starlight. After joining Firestorm in some tough fights, she was both surprised and overjoyed when she discovered that she was Regina Dawson, a colleague and fellow professor at the college, thus becoming close friends with the heroine that inspired her. Whether fighting alone or joining other heroines, Starlight is a steadfast protector of Skyland City and its citizens.

Powers and Abilities
Enhanced Strength and Durability: The magical orb grants Starlight incredible strength and durability. She can lift up to 50 metric tons and can resist heavy damage, but she is not invulnerable. She also has an enhanced healing factor that helps her recover from even serious wounds and replenish her energy.

Flight: Starlight has the ability to fly swiftly, even reaching as fast as Mach 1 speed. She can also fly at the higher levels of the atmosphere.

Enhanced Speed: Starlight is fast enough to dodge and even block bullets from heavy duty turrets with her golden bracers.

Energy Manipulation: Perhaps one of the most impressive abilities that the magical orb grants the heroine is the ability to shoot powerful energy blasts, whether it is rapid sphere like blasts, or larger energy waves capable of demolishing even heavily armoured targets. She can also unleash her energy around her in the form of wide range explosions. However, this ability takes a heavy toll on her and the strongest the energy blast is, the more winded she becomes. Still, as the heroine gets more used to this ability her limits increase, and she becomes more capable of shooting powerful blasts without getting instantly weary. Starlight also likes to name some of her stronger moves, like Stardust Buster and Sparkling Flash.

Equipment
Magical Bracelets: Starlight’s magical equipment is old and mysterious in nature. The redhead has a pair of golden metallic bracers that are capable of absorbing heavy damage, defecting bullets and even energy blasts. They also have a sort of pocket dimension, and they are able to store and summon one medium sized object at a time, giving them great utility.

Magical Belt: Starlight’s other part of her equipment is her metallic, golden belt where the small red orb is fastened in its buckle, which is the source of her powers. The orb is mentally connected with her and the belt cannot be unbuckled by anyone other than herself. However, if Starlight’s mental bond with the orb is weakened she slowly loses her powers, and if it becomes too weak then the belt is unbuckled on its own, leaving the heroine completely powerless. Despite her powers and durability she can still be knocked out by powerful blasts or knockout gas.

Interesting Facts
Emily is quite fascinated with ancient and medieval history. She has her own little library with historic tomes, maps, a globe and even a small collection of authentic reproductions of historic swords. She currently has a Roman gladius, a Greek xiphos, a knight arming sword and a Scottish claymore.

Her enthusiastic nature can lead her to get a little reckless at times, and charge into a situation without much thinking.

She likes to relax in her place with homemade snacks and playing games with good company or watching movies and anime. Her favourite dishes involve pizza and pasta, and favourite deserts are anything chocolate related.

Emily also likes to stay fit so she occasionally hits the gym or goes cycling in Skyland City’s central park. Her constant heroics also play a big part, though.

Her slender neck and toned abs are rather sensitive.

Emily still occasionally goes on safari trips and archaeological expeditions to discover ancient artifacts.

She has a fairly big collection of yuri and comedy manga and novels.
