Phew! Finished this baby finally. I have been looking into some new shading techniques lately and i have finally come across one which i really liked, so this is my first attempt at using it.I spent about 4 full days (spread across about 2 weeks) doing this piece. I really went nuts with the effects and had to literally force myself to stop and post it on here before i go wrecking the pic!
Anyways i hope you all like it!

Thanks! Umm... im not entirely sure if i can remember how i did it exactly.
There was about a good 40 mins or so worth of trial and error with the flames. I think i had a few layers with the different colours (red, orange, yellow, white and black smoke) with different blending modes aplyed to them (such as multiply, overlay or screen)
Also i used some blur effects, mainly the motion blur filter i think. I would have probably lowered the opacity on certain layers as well to make them blend together better.
Sorry I cant be a little more specific on how exactly i achieved the effect. I kind of just experimented till i was happy enough with it...

THAT'S INSANE, how the hell did you do those flames??? AND THE BLUR EFFECT LOOKS AWESOME!!! I can't believe it, you've fucking nailed the shit out this one! Looks real eye catching and the colour tones are sooo sick!!!

haha cheers man! i thought you would dig it. All the effects just came from experimenting with lots of layers and different colours and stuff. I reckon all up there would be about at least 60 layers on this bastard! I took my time with everything so it came out really good in the end. I actually had the character fully done before the weekend then i spent the whole day doing the background and rain effects today.
For the background i took a look at some of the GTA 4 artwork and worked from one that had the same kind of colours i wanted...
