This particular submission is named Phalangespider because it is a spider-like creature made from human hand bones. It was my second submission to the 9 Creature Creation contest, but certainly not my favorite.

Unlike normal spiders though, this creature has no eyes at all and is blind as a result. It must rely on an old-fashioned microphone that is wired and wound through the fishing reel to both listen for and descend upon its prey. A terrible fate awaits any creature who is not diligent enough to avoid these nasty enemies, and while the Phalangespider won't "eat" its victims, it has no problem dismembering them and using their threading to make more webs.

Despite not being as complex as my last entry, I still feel as though a creature such as this could exist in the 9 world. After all, that awesome cat monster creature in the movie is made partly from bones too, so imagine how much creepier human hands would be in this manner.

The background and adding the character were certainly a very nice touch. Certainly made it much more believable. (:

Yours isn't bad at all, and is actually better illustrated and explained than most of the other entries on here. My best suggestion for improving your entry is to resubmit it as a PNG to reduce ambient JPEG artifacts, and work on more dramatic lighting like how you did with the fire segment of the picture. You've got a lot of potential if you play your cards right. :-]

All right. It's now a PNG, and you're right - it DOES look better this way!

Now to come up with more dramatic lighting...

Great design. Simple, but quite effectively creepy.

You're right. I didn't want to over-complicate this one. Sometimes I guess less is more

cool, I like the fact that you added a background and one of the 9 characters, it really adds to it.

Thanks! I try my best to envision these creatures having some sort of feasibility existing in the 9 world, so adding settings and characters from the film might help create the right vibe.
