She was born severely myopic. Her vision had been deteriorating quickly and the strength of her glasses grew fast. When her eyes could not be fully corrected with glasses she became legally blind. Her vision shrinked to 10 % of normal vision. Moreover, she started suffering from chronic scleritis, probably cause by wearing contact lenses too often. When she was 18, she agreed to have her eyes removed. The surgeon covered her empty eye sockets with skingrafts. She started a new life. Although she could not see any more, she said she was happy. The surgery freed her from annoying and painful inflammation in her eyes. After many years she felt beautiful again.
