I was tired of hiding my eyes under the sun glasses. I was tired of answering questions if I am really as blind as to use my white cane. My eyes gave me so little vision that they were virtually useless. Moreover, they did not look very nice. They were uneven, my left eye turned into the inner corner years ago while my right eye remained blindly staring upwards. I made a decision I will never regret. I had my eyes removed and my eyesockets filled with artificial tissue. Then the doctors sealed them with smooth skin grafts. Now, the white cane is not the only indicator of my visual impairment. Everybody can see who I am: A pretty young woman who happens to be blind.
So, how do you like my new face?
