Description Sometimes, too many times, I can't keep it together. Sometimes my energy is drained by a dark, thirsty sadness. My spirit splinters, my heart crumbles and I crash.

An incredibly intelligent way of portraying a terrible problem.

It seems quite a few people have found this image inspirational and moving and I certainly agree with them.

You're absolutely right, you "appear pretty cheerful for a depressed guy".

Sometimes the world can be so horrid that all I can do is cry or laugh at it. Occasionally people will get upset at my 'morbid' sense of humor, but it's better than the alternative. Keep up the sense of humor

Reminds me of a Winston Churchill quote:

It is terribly stiff-upper-lip British, mind you

Such a touching and poignant image… just had to leave you word before I fly the coup.

I was very moved by this piece and your comments. What is so brilliant is the way you created singular selves flying off in the background. Those states do have the capacity to obscure and seemingly take over the entire “being”… as though one has momentarily been possessed by an unwelcomed force. An uninvited guest that moves in and only leaves when it chooses to… very well done and incredible execution. Big fave mon ami!

Very pleased to have glimpsed it before I go…

One of my favorite quotations: “ I was much further out than you thought… and not waving but drowning” – Stevie Smith…. Touche´!

A bientot mon chere ami,
Sincerely Ettimpressedbigtime!

Thanks Curiosett. Where you flying your coup to?

The idea or the picture seemed too obvious at first, but then I added the small detail of normal-state bodies flying with a sense of direction and purpose and I was satisfied it was good enough.

Good quotage Ett.

Ciao Bella Ettster!

Chere Sir Bob,

I’m so sorry to hear that, and empathize a great deal. I respect you for speaking about it and creating an image that will touch many many people. It’s a state of being that is profoundly misunderstood… I’ve had debilitating bouts since I was a child and always think I’m well equipped/prepared for the next unannounced visit… but have yet to be. I often work over pieces I do in those periods and have only kept a precious few. I rarely show them, save for these…([link] ) ([link] ) it’s very challenging to produce when one feels that way… I find work tends to spill forth abundantly afterward but has difficulty taking shape or finding a semblance of continuity during. My stuff gets very chaotic and has no focus… just busy and disjointed… or maybe that’s my style? Who knows?

“But what we call our despair is often only the painful eagerness of unfed hope.” – George Eliot

“Last night I slept just like a baby… I woke up every 5 minutes screaming and crying” - Anonymous

Thank you for your remarkable honesty,
It’s a very touching piece

Stay special Sir Bobbles

Bienvenue mon chere ami!
I agree wholeheartedly… with the pace of life, and stress these days I suspect it will unfortunately become more and more commonplace…sadly!

Good on ya for opening the door for a discussion. Chat anytime ya need it…
p.s. There’s a smooshed muffin top with frog eyes (and a slight case of French flatulence) that's a stellar listener… though mildly prone to doling out crap advice.
Big hug pour vous Sir Bobles

I know a couple of people with clinical depression who are treated by their families as if they are half mad and dangerous! It's just ignorance that's all.

I thankee ye for your offer generoso and the same thought travels your way from me also. Hug! Incoming!

That’s so heart breaking, and surely the last thing they need. I think many who have not lived it think you should just “snap out of it” or “shake it off”… if only it was that simple. I’m sorry they must endure that as well. ( for your mates)

Thankee ye fine Brit! Ye are an angel…( I mean that in a manly kind o way )… Caught it… ya I needed that!

Adviceage ------> Stuff face first with pie… rub le belly thrice.

Then duck, drop, and role in perfect harmony toward nearest exit route! Don’t sing!!!… To avoid temptation o singin’ with world, keep mouth area stuffaged to maximum capacity. Koala’s will not attack rollin’ pie filled creatures… I’m temporarily fairly certainly and mildly convinced of me theory. I would swear by it if I kept a fowl mouth area!
