While it appears messy up-close, I have to say that from a smaller or "farther away" view it really looks great. Which is definitely a good thing, as it means your overall composition and color choices are strong. With refinement this could end up pretty darn awesome.

Aye, I'm still working out the coloring style and all that. Penwork and brushwork is hard to mix at times.
I'm hoping so XD

Concept 2 is a wonderful piece; I feel as through it's part of a story and we're in the middle of having it revealed to us. I love the use of texture and side with ~Dilgar on this. the question I have though, is you mentioned that this was rough and it isn't coming out as how you'd like. Do you wish for a more smoothier texture or are you more for having the lines that create this piece to continue to stand out? Try adding a little more depth in color in the reflection of the floating island in the water and a deeper sky to give more defintion to the island itself. Overall, this piece is one of mystic harmony, texture, and a sort of calm before the storm effect. Best of Luck on what ever you chose to do with this work.
P.s. City Runner is a truly amazing piece.

Thank you very much for your thoughtful words.
I appreciate your suggestions -- I will apply them toward the next one. The thing about this is, I'm trying a new style of development -- drawing it over and over in different ways to eventually create one piece that I'm truly happy with. My problem isn't so much with technical skill (not because I feel it is good), but with the design of the island. I can never seem to find the right balance to it, but I don't want to copy the ideas of others, so I'm drastically refusing to see any references.
Also, thank you XD I love that piece with all my heart. Not my best, but I love it XD

I checked it out and it is interesting -- I like your take on it, but I'm trying to make this my own island through a series of refinement sketches, like this one.

my main dilema is making it 3 dimensional without making it look like a treasure map glued to a rock : /
you do a good job of creating realistic depth, or at least good enough for a concept

I love your scenery! It kind of reminds me of the Halleluja Mountains of Pandora from Avatar.

They were a bit of inspiration, but more was drawn from other sources.
Thanks :3

Nonsense. This is great. The texture is most excellent in this. Water sort of looks papery, but other than that, this is a splendid piece.

I do appreciate it. Still working it out, one finished concept at a time. There are actually two more that I do not plan to post XD
