Description

This one took a while to finish. I worked on it when I needed a short break during commission work. Started out as a way for me to start using 3d as a way of making reference material and quick compositional sketches.
It then tangented off into making it as large an image as my computer could reasonably handle and pushing the 3d models to being usable for paintovers. (The repulsor executioner)
Also I just kept adding to the painting over time.
Originally there weren’t supposed to be landspeeders, chaos marines or even the standard bearer/chaplain. Even the two marines in the back weren’t originally planned for!
Still, I don’t regret adding them. They were fun to do at the time.

A few things to note. After chatting with Kai Lim about the primaris intercessor helmet design, I wanted to have a go at depicting the current intercessor helmet without the Ventilation(?) holes.
The panel line on the face plate was because I was playing with the idea that a plate could be affixed over the “infiltrator” helmet to give it the “intercessor” look.
It made sense to me as a thing to try because the MK X line of power armour is supposed to be super modular. So having the modularity extend the helmet as well seemed like an obvious thing to do.
Judicar doesn’t have his face mask because I thought it looked silly.
