"Still as clingy as ever I see then Vinyl"
I finally gave in to all the requests for Vinyl's mother to make an appearance. But it came with so many problems on my part. I told myself I wasn't going to design her to be similar to Vinyl, then Vinyl's brother was shown in the IDW comics, and I couldn't get the whole idea of a white unicorn family with different coloured hairstyles out of my head. So after working out that seemed to be the only way to go, I opted to give her a far different hairstyle from her children.
Then I went and had a massive argument with myself about how Vinyl should address her mother. Seriously. 'Mother' seemed far too formal for Vinyl, and no doubt there would be an argument if I used either the the 'Mum' or 'Mom' term based on spelling, so I settled for 'Mama', mainly because it's funny, and also because it really hints at Vinyl being a mummies girl, contrary to her attitude when she's performing.
And let's not even get onto the subject of naming her! XD

To me, it seems like Vinyl Scratch's personality (and the non-British-ness of the show) would have her calling her mom "Mom".

Oh I'm not denying the fact the show is incredibly 'non-British', but with me being British sometimes I have to have a good think about dialogue and how it might be lost in translation between England English and American English.

I like Mama Scratch's look, I'm not worried about her name we've waited a while to see Octamum & Octadad's names, give it time we still need to wait to see Daddy-Scratch. Now the question is will Mama Scratch be ok with this or will she freak out?

Mama Scratch sigh... *rolls eyes* she likes her applesauce smooth not chucky with a little some cinnamon & brown sugar & you should get this basket that plays wub sounds really quite like the sound of the womb & heart beat it helps her relax. Oh & for the love of Celestia get your self a combination lock for the cookie jar! it's the only thing that works cause she's bad with numbers.
