"Still as clingy as ever I see then Vinyl"
I finally gave in to all the requests for Vinyl's mother to make an appearance. But it came with so many problems on my part. I told myself I wasn't going to design her to be similar to Vinyl, then Vinyl's brother was shown in the IDW comics, and I couldn't get the whole idea of a white unicorn family with different coloured hairstyles out of my head. So after working out that seemed to be the only way to go, I opted to give her a far different hairstyle from her children.
Then I went and had a massive argument with myself about how Vinyl should address her mother. Seriously. 'Mother' seemed far too formal for Vinyl, and no doubt there would be an argument if I used either the the 'Mum' or 'Mom' term based on spelling, so I settled for 'Mama', mainly because it's funny, and also because it really hints at Vinyl being a mummies girl, contrary to her attitude when she's performing.
And let's not even get onto the subject of naming her! XD

I think my favorite part is the look on Octamum's face at the end. Busted. Oh, I'd love to hear more of that first conversation.
On a side note, can you tell me where you heard that that was Vinyl's brother in the comics, and not her dad/mom? I'm curious because I thought it was one of her parents, but then I read that it wasn't, but I can't seem to find any information, even on the wiki.

Indeed. I thought it was her father too, but I've had people contact me, whether it be through replies or Notes on DA that apparently it's her brother.
Either way, I'm not really planning on using the character until the whole things has a bit more certainty about it, as harsh as that may sound.

Yeah, I noticed that too. I saw a comment that said the official artist of that comic said it was in fact Vinyl's brother, and yet I have not been able to find anything that actually confirms that the artist said so. I was just wondering if perhaps you'd heard from a more reliable source than I did, but it seems that it's still just, "Oh, I heard from some guy who heard from this girl who said she heard..." etc.

Issues #11 & #12, with the whole Shining Armour and Cadence storyline.

Yeap, I double checked, I found them in both issues.

The newest two issues. When Shining armor is performing his song with his band, Vinyl is riding on the back of a white unicorn with a red mane as a filly. It's how she got her cutie mark apparently. Then, during the dance, it says that D.J. 33 1/2 LP is performing, and we see the same unicorn playing records.

Brother will drop by someday, let's hope the father does, but one thing I know, the father might not take kindly on this to see his daughter been used like a baby when she's already a grown mare. I think Octamom needs a new baby, but only adopted due to her condition.
