Description
"Nopony makes fun of me except my wife!"A short little piece I had to create for my Animation course at University, in which we had to create a short ten second animation showing two principles of animation. The principles which I chose to animate were the 'Squash and Stretch' and 'Exaggeration' techniques. It's amazing just how much fun you can have with them! Even my lecturer loves this, saying "It's so nice to see characters that are cute and adorable trying to punch each others lights out for a change!"
To say this was my first ever attempt at animating in flash, I'm very pleased with myself with this.
UPDATE: Tweak a few lines, and now with added 'swoosh'!

Word, good work, especially considering it's your first attempt! :3 Flash looks interesting, might need to give it a go someday.

It is indeed interesting, though if you're planning to do something like this I'd recommend using it with a graphics tablet like I did, It makes the drawing process far easier, especially with how the lines seem to clean themselves after being drawn.

No problems there, I use a tablet already for the things I've posted on dA. :3 It's an old Intuos2 but it seems to work okay. At least all failings in my work can be attributed to myself rather than my tools. X3

Hah! The sound effect is a nice touch, and I liked the comeback, too. Cream pies are such a comedy classic.
And it's cool that you're paying attention to small details even in your first animation - for example, having the stallion on the right reach around to where the viewer can't see to pull the pie out of hammerspace. Much better than just having it materialize in full view.
Glad your lecturer loved it, too!

If I wanted to be really picky on small details I'd point out that it was actually a fruit pie!
But yeah, I'm a sucker for small details and background animation. People always seem to assume it's what happens at the forefront that gets all the attention, but that's never the case in my opinion, it's always the background details and happenings. Just take ponies as a good example of that!
Another good example I can think off was when we were studying the 2D and 3D animated sequences in the film 'Thomas and the Magic Railroad' at University the other day. We ended up looking at some of the special effects sequences whilst we were at it, and there was one scene when a character was suggested to be inside a house that was painted onto a big mural, whilst another character was acting and speaking in the forefront outside. But if you listened closely you could just hear the actor for the character inside saying:
"Oh look! Six little..."
*SMASH*
"...Five little glass figures!"
It's brilliant little details like that that can make my day!

And I could also be really picky and say I only made a general statement that cream pies are a comedy classic.

Very true. The immediately obvious is important, but the background's important as well, even at the first glance, and it only becomes more important when people re-watch animation.

Hah, yeah, I love little things like that, too! It shows that something's a labor of love and that the creators really wanted to do a good job, as opposed to just making a quick buck.
