"When I get my hooves on that Vinyl!"Random doodle from my train journey yesterday. Bizarrely nothing noteworthy happened throughout it. It was quite strange really.
Fun Fact: The line my train runs on is so out of the way from the main line that they still use these types of signals, dating from the late 1800s to control traffic on the line, and they're still changed by hand by a signalman in a signal box. It's stuff like this that certainly gives British railways a certain charm. Also, there are two types of these types of signal. Octavia is hanging from a 'home' signal, distinguishable by its red signal arm with white band, these are put in place around stations to warn the drivers they're to slow down, even if the signal is as green. The other type is known as a 'distant' signal, coloured yellow with a black band along with a 'clipped' end to the arm, these are used out on the most open parts of the line away from any signals or points to indicate where trains are using the section of track ahead.

Funnily enough, when I took a good look at this after I'd drawn it one of the first things that came to my mind was that Octavia looked like a cat!
Not my old cat though, he was to large to even jump over the garden gate!

I find this funny as heck. Also you did a good job on the signal. We used to have Semaphores all over our side of the Pond and we used to have Towers along the line as well but both are very rare. In fact i think they're are only 1 set of active semaphores left while the amount of towers in about 20 to 30.

I've hardly put any in at at all, I suppose it must just be the scratchy style of the pen I used to draw it in. I was going to add more detail in, such as a service ladder, alas I ran out of time.

Nah, it's an impossibility for me to mistake which train I've got to catch.
When I get to the big station in Manchester to change my trains, I usually walk along the footbridge. Down below you can see all the posh modern train, brilliantly streamlined, polished to perfection, with fold out steps, food trolleys and stewards and stewardesses in their highly maintained uniforms all looking presentable to the paying public...
...and then you see the crappy little two carriage train that runs the service I catch, covered in streaks of mud, rattling from the vibration of the engine alone, billowing smoke everywhere and with a headboard for a station that isn't even on the line it travels!
