Ah, my cruelness to Octavia, where will it end?
Been painting the walls of my Mother's house recently and this little idea about it came to me as I travelled on the train to Bolton (For the last time as well! I move out tomorrow!) Alas, the line work could have been better, had I not been on the train with a driver 'Learning Under Supervision' at the controls. Even though the trains I go on can only go 80MPH at the max, when a driver suddenly realises he's so behind schedule and decides to full throttle one of the trains, how much it shakes about is terrifying! It got even more terrifying when we were still going at 20MPH when we were gliding along the platform at the dead end station at Manchester!
Somehow I don't think the Inspector will be passing him out in a hurry!

I've finally found someone who treats Tavi and Vinyl more like Ernie and Bert. I don't mind when fans make them a couple, but since there's no evidence given in the show to support it, I like the idea of them as odd couple roommates better. Lyra and BonBon are a couple no questions asked, but I don't support cannon T&V being a couple (although university days is awesome, and I will concede that they may have had a fling during their college years).

Yeah I suppose they might be. I don't mind them being romantically involved in the fandom, I'm just against them bring together in cannon.

That's perhaps the one bit of fan pandering I didn't like in Slice of Life. They go to all this trouble to assure us that Lyra and BonBon are just 'best friends' (to which I say 'Yeah and I'm sure you'll be doing your own secret investigations with your best friend later Lyra') then they have it implied that Tavi and Vinyl are actually involved. There was never anything to indicate this. It was fan made all the way. If there had been prior evidence (as with Lybonra) I wouldn't be against it. At least they've started to ever so slightly have the true lesbian couple in the show, show affection for each other.

I know what you mean. I think Slice of Life was simply a bit of fun for all the fans, so it would be hard to give them a canon that everyone would like. They didn't make the Octavia and Vinyl link overdone but of course ships will never be stopped, whatever the canon. I guess that's part of the fun though- ships are just ideas

Yeah I get you. A lot of the stuff in Slice of Life would have been cause to complain if it were featured in any other episode, but since it was a way to say thanks to the fans, it kind of works. Is it particularly clever? Not really. Is it a good time? Certainly. To be honest though, I think the five year anniversary episode (Crusaders of the Lost Mark) actually did a better job at giving the fans something they had been wanting for years, but not over pandering to anyone. I still love Slice of Life, but I just wouldn't call it the best episode of the show. I'll reserve that for when the series finale airs in a few years. I'm personally hoping to catch it at Bronycon or wherever they have the special screening

Funnily enough, when I drew this that never crossed my mind. I ended up watching that episode of Mr Bean that night, and was mentally kicking myself for a good few minutes afterwards!
