“Aww, come on, sis,” said Lauren from her perch on her daughter’s shoulder. “She just wants to snuggle with her new doll.”
“Yeah, I know.” Carly pushed at Alex’s nose with all the strength her tiny arms could muster, but it was no use. “But maybe I don’t feel like a snuggle, okay?”
Her feelings on the matter were disregarded. Alex was just too strong. Carly found herself pushed gently but inexorably onto her niece’s cheek. She was cuddled into Alex’s face, her tiny struggles as nothing compared to the strength of the giant eight-year-old.
“Alex!” Carly said into her niece’s cheek, managing to be loud enough to be heard, though her voice was a bit muffled. “Can you put your aunt down now, honey? I’m getting kind of sweaty here.”
“Okay, Auntie Carly Doll,” Alex said, pulling her aunt away from her face. “but you guys got to play a game with me.”
“Um…okay. Sure. What kind of game, Alex?”
The huge, billboard-sized face opened up into a six-foot-wide grin. “It’s called Catch the Tinies!”
As she and her sister were lowered to the floor by a kneeling Alex, Carly sighed.
This just gets better and better.
