This icon has been made for those deviants who wanted it since the stamp .
The version above is the high quality icon. The quality in the avatar is rather poor, because deviantART's avatar size limit of 15KB is unreasonable by today's standards.

I know this is old, but I don't care.
No, a fav is not a compliment. If it was I'd be glad I'm even getting one. What? is it going to kill 3 out of the 30+ people who fav bombed my newest picture to use 2 damn minutes of their time to comment? No its not. And a fav is way more annoying than the "cool" comments.
But when I see that Comment before you fave Icon, it's simple: I don't comment it, but I don't fave it either.
I'd be fine with that, you're not gonna use a few minutes of your time to comment or you're not gonna comment because I'm asking you to with this icon, then you shouldn't have bothered to have faved it in the first place

Well, to me, a fave is a compliment. But that's just me. 
I only comment when I have something to say. Well, sometimes, I have something to say but I can't because I don't know how to say it in English. A fave is just a way to say "I like this".
Well, tons of faves without a single comment is pretty annoying.
But I can't blame them. If they like my stuff and just didn't feel like leaving a comment, I'm okay with that.

They're just faves. It's not a big deal. Heck, faving without commenting doesn't automatically make them terrible people.

I sometimes comment, but I guess most of the time I do the same as you...
Mostly, I comment things which I DON'T fav, because there's always something to say, but with favs it's different. Some drawings just make me speechless and are so beautiful that ther eisn't really anything to add... so I just +fav

There's one little problem though. In some cases, I have to ask the author to re-enable the comment if these are disabled before I can fave.

Some people just don't want comments. If they don't want any, that's their problem! Faving is the only thing you can do in those situations.

This is very good idea.
I like the simplicity of the icon and it not being too fancy. I would appreciate it to be more green to fit into color skin of the author's comment box, but that's just detail. More important is, that it wouldn't certainly hurt to have the word "please" there. Some people may think of it as of a command and that's not good. 
I must admit I've gone as far with one of my watchers as to ask him politely if he can comment my works before faving next time. I simply want to know, what is it that people like on it! Not only to improve myself but also because I am curious by nature.
So I hope adding this icon will help it. Thank you for creating it, good work
