No.. He didn't win against the evil being.. For his eyes have become darkened, and the beautifully dark sinister servants at his side..
This can only mean he has either become the material host for the shade from the last picture, or somehow took it into himself, and made it part of him. Either way, something has changed, he has changed somehow.
