PERFECT!!!! No one ever remarks on that let alone get's that this is EXACTLY what he's doing- scene, act AND the actual soliloquy!!!! His name is Yorick! It was really several jokes all in one this piece: one being based on the idea of Yorick getting the posthumous chance to drone on like our boy hamlet does... Oh...you made my day my dear! THANK YOU!!!!!

HA! I knew it! And you're welcome. :joy:
It was the first thing I noticed, and it really me giggle. He is very well done, you got the pose just right. It kept playing over and over in my head and I had to comment. I do admit I had to look up the scene and act (and make sure that that bit WAS called a soliloquy) but I knew the words and that it was Hamlet.
Your work rocks by the way, I love your use of gourds too. It has strengthened my determination to get back into making, er, characters. The paper is soaking as we speak, nearly ready to turn into clay. A few sleeping pixies, gnomes, and a 6' troll are on the agenda.

Ah, yes, thank you! I'm glad that it had such an effect on you! It remains one of my favorite photos that I've taken of my work. I was lucky to have so many of my pieces around at one time as they are typically gone as soon as I complete them. I used this image for a post card that I sent out to folks for show and workshop announcements.

Get one of those free blogs set up and practice panel making there for feedback. Name the blog after a story/character or something and go for it. That group shot is frickin awesome!

AAAaaaaa....I do believe all of your creations are awesome I just don't have the money to buy it all. Or any money at that. They just need to catch the right persons eye at the right time to be bought.

This is such a neat piece! I just love the bit frightening but still friendly feeling of it... a beautiful contrast.
I think that seeing all these figures brought and posing together make me appreciate each ones very distinct character even more.

Boggleboy In reply to Uzag [2007-11-20 19:49:05 +0000 UTC]
Thanks again AJ! It isn't often that I have so many of my figures all together at the same time to do group shots like this as I often sell them shortly after sculpting them- often out of necessity- so it was fun to be able to do this! I've wanted to do a group shot of my dolls for a long time, so this was my chance and I jumped at it! Of course, it isn't always a good sign to have so many still around at the same time and long enough to be abel to do this, but in this case it was taken the night before the show and now only three remain. I also hoped that it would show the variety of even just these few characters- I'm glad that it did for you!
I think that most of my things are like that- a little scary to some, but when you get down to it, they are all decent folk! Even the scary ones have something valuable to teach.

Whenever I see your work I think you should be talking to people like Woodland Animations (who do Postman Pat) or Cosgrove Hall ([link] ) who produce a lot of the stop animation shows for kids in the morning. I imagine a talented character designer like you would be of interest to them.

Boggleboy In reply to AndyIomoon [2007-11-14 05:35:22 +0000 UTC]
I'll give them a look! I know a lot of the shows that Cosgrove hall has produced- do you really think they'd give an unknown freelancer like me a chance? And do Woodland Animations have a web site? That would be wonderful stuff to do!!!! I don't suppose you have any contacts there or might not know someone there?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
AndyIomoon In reply to Boggleboy [2007-11-14 09:18:32 +0000 UTC]
I don't know anyone at either place, unfortunately but that shouldn't stop you contacting them with some of your samples. Gotta put yourself out there I reckon. That's how I did it. Remember, everyone starts out as an unknown.
Not sure if Woodland Animations have a website but you can find their contact details here (including an email address): [link]
Good luck!
