I only did two so far...no one else was ever very interested in them... In fact, I never sold the one with the spider.

Thank you! I didn't really get as much of a reaction for this series as I'd hoped I would. I'm glad that you like him!

He sold pretty fast too! I still have the Arachnophile though- I think the spider gave everyone the creeps!

Yeah, it's was suppossed to be from the skulls pint of view- Uric, Yurik, Yorrick??? What was his name!? Anyway, I'm glad that you liked the pose- I tried to keep it dramatic and dynamic.

Yep, yorick. Alas, poor yorick, I knew him horatio, a man of infinite jests. Something like that If you want dynamic death, try to google for some of those medieval dance of death windows and engravings. Shows just how well he gets around!

Oh, I'm familiar with those!!!! Aren't they great!? We used to have a group at our local Ren Fair that would do a Dead Parade through the fair in October....they don't any more I'm afraid.

What a pity they don't do it anymore. Sounds like great fun. In a morbid way of course

Oh indeed, and I appreciate the morbid... It was really quite an impressive site to behold. They would play drums and tambourines, pipes and flutes and the like, making no other sound, saying not a word, and they would dance throughout the fair in a line, silently but for the music. Every now and then they would stop and single out one or two people and slowly and silently approach, music stopped, and stare at them...then the music would explode and they would dance on! Some wore human skull masks, some animal skull masks...it was really something to see.

It sounds amazing. I wish they'd do something like that around here, sounds much better than the stanard faire stuff!

Well...as I said, they don't do it anymore...and it's been years since I've been back the Ohio Ren faire.

If it's like the one I hit this fall you're not missing much anymore. I can't decide if the attractions went downhill this quickly, or if, as my friend suggested, we weren't corsetted as tightly as the previous years and actually had enough oxygen getting to our brains this year!

That may well be the case! Heat exhaustion and a bit too much Guinness beer can often make things seem....different.

I applaud your restraint I guess sometimes that old adage is right ... Less is more. Perfectly is definitely how it turned out

Thanks Chris! I'm glad that you feel so! I have heard many artists say that knowing when a piece is finished is perhaps the most important step when creating.

Thanks Dean- so do I! I'm afraid that the locals might not quite get these figures and may find them just a little too weird...Troy Ohio is kind of a bland place as far as the tastes of most of the locals and my history here has not been a good one as far as the overall reaction to my work by my fellow Trojans and their willingness to buy any of my work at all has been almost nonexistant. I'd vowed already not to do any more local shows as they've all been heartbreakingly bad for me, resulting in very few to absolutely NO sales whatsoever!!!! But, this is a juried show that happens only once every two years and it is by invitation only, so I agreed to do it. However, that still is no guarentee...we'll see and I'm not going to get my hopes up too much. I think if I fail to sell any of these dolls and the other items I'll have at the show, this will be the final local show for me in this part of Ohio unless I do actual gallery shows at some more visible higher end galleries in the bigger city area. Other than that, if I do shows they will be elsewhere, such as the FaerieCon show in Philly or at the Indiana GenCon. if it wasn't for my web site, none of my work would ever sell here. I have yet to make one sale of any of my dolls to anyone in Ohio at all!!!!

Good Luck with that! Well, you know, everyone thinks our stuff is great and wonderful... but they won't shell out the $$$ to take them home... oh welly well... online is my best venue for actually selling (eBay) but I so love meeting people at shows!
