Description When I was building my Mixel spider weight was an issue. The Mixel ball joints are good, but they're still ball joints (and ones that are designed to come apart, at that), so... well... there's weight issues. Even more so if you're looking at the old fashioned clip joints.

So here's how I supported the Spider's weight. For the back end of the spider, it's attached by two clip joints, and then supported by an adjustable ball-jointed platform. Because you can move the platform you can adjust how high up the back section of the spider is.

And for the back legs (which support the most weight) I created a little locking system using moveable panels on his back end, that lock into the legs to give them more support once you've adjusted them. This pretty much just allows the spider to splay his legs, without falling down and having his belly on the floor.
