So here's a character comparison of Merak i finally got around to posting!
gawwdd he's changed so muchhh

the pic on the right was his first concept art appearance back in about late 2009. and no, I had not even heard of BSW's account nor characters when i designed him back then! XD
i'm pretty sure he was a wolf at first and so was the majority of the cast. I also have no clue what I was thinking with the dark sable pointing.
The star was supposedly the equivalent of his eye-mark now. I also made the writing mistake of giving him a sibling with REVERSE COLOURS, AND A MOON MARK OVER HER EYE. YEAH.
REAAALLLLL ORIGINAL, BONDAY. but thank gawd ALL THAT BULLSHIT IS GONE NOW.

as far as personality goes, the older merak was much more mature and more headstrong than his newer counterpart. i have no clue when i changed that in him, but i know i did'nt like the way it was. in storytelling, the internal thoughts and doubts of a protagonist are very important. if the protagonist feels no threat or challenge, why should a reader? it becomes a self-fulfilling plot- it just leisurely unravels at a monotone pace. this personality also misfitted his background.

onto the late 2011 Merak. first off, HE IS'NT A WOLF! Like the other canine cast he is a wild dog. But i did give him some more spitz characteristics (erect ears, curled tail, eye spots,). He is also noticably smaller than his predecessor.
New merak is certainly more of a coward and is very skeptic or sometimes even pessimistic and he has all the right to be. Living in such a place would certainly do things to you. he can be stupid in situations because has little expirience, but that does'nt mean he lacks common sense. I also think the other Merak was a bit of a smooth-talker, once again, this trait was dropped.
