Description Brothers! Sisters! This is not the time to cower and hide in your houses. Can't you hear the economy crying? Can't you hear our father Dollar suffering as we refuse to open our stores in fear of a tiny little virus? Money must flow! We need to see that if it is to please the holy stock market, then our lives are such a small price to pay. Oil must flow! The invisible hand is reaching out for us, pleading for our help, and yet we shun it away with masks and gloves. How can we be so selfish? Blood must flow! Can't you see how the banks are bleeding? Have we forgotten the lesson our messiah gave us? Money comes first! Come out! Come out onto the streets! Open your hearts and wallets! Praise the lord in the name of the Credit, the Debt and the holy Mortgage! Contrary to human lives, gold is finite. Have we no shame? We must bleed! We must die! All in the name of the economy, amen.

I really enjoy this piece of work. Though I find it sad people assume the fear of the virus in the comments to he irrational. Many people I know in the health field are working harder than ever, we lack proper ppe. We are running out of supplies that we already had shortages on. And people are dying in front of our faces. Unfortunately due to me having immune compromised people in my household I chose to stay home due to the risk. It's ridiculous when people say "Only the elderly and immune compromised are at risk." That is WRONG. Anyone, and I mean anyone, can catch Covid 19. There are people in thier 20's-30's falling I'll and becoming ventilated just as much as elderly. There are children being exposed to this virus. It is NOT a joke. No one is immune and just because you are in a certain demographic doesn't mean you are invincible. The economy can bounce back, but dead people can't. Hearing people I worked close with having mental breakdowns and crying from being on the front lines is something I never want to hear again. And I don't expect people to get it or understand but unless they have seen the refrigerated trucks being brought to store the dead, and the ventilators, people struggling to breathe, I'm not surprised they don't take it seriously.

Well if u wanna go out home because u think ur life is a small price to pay then i bet u have no problem on getting all the hate in the world XD do u rll care about money more than ur own or ur families life? Do u think a piece of paper or a number will make u happy? This virus is not a joke, staying home is the only way to stop it and if u don't understand that then I just feel rll sorry for u, and I gotta tell u to grow up and mature XD

For the first time ever the only planet in the world that is perfect enough for us to live in its fixing itself and u just want to end it's destruction

I don't believe the artist means the description in full. Sure, they might believe that we shouldn't close everything, but saying "it's a small price" for a human life seems more like something the object/character in the artwork is saying.

Great work! Saw you struck a nerve with some people. Just yesterday my sister got all riled up with me because I mentioned Amazon's CEO being a douche about sick leave and her response was "that's just business". Those who are a part of the system will defend it and those who don't want to be a part of it will be critical of it. The former will always want to pull the latter back into their system, the psychology of why they feel the need to do this is a whole other field of study.

I swear I'd rather deal with the profit cults of Neptune from warframe. At least they are honest about their greed. also to the economists out there do keep in mind corpses don't move the economy which is what will happen if we open up too soon, that is all.

No no, is more along the lines that I don't believe anything to be more valuable than our lives, not even our economic stability. But hey, what do I know? I just like to paint!

Nothing more valuable than lives? Somehow I doubt that in some circumstances if you follow the political path I'm assuming.
Keep painting anyway: you are good at it

Mr-Fizzle In reply to Bonekrishna [2020-04-06 21:11:31 +0000 UTC]

None of these statements are very accurate.

You follow a political path, maybe not from an interactive and visibly contributing position, but in the way that your philosophy manifests in your actions towards society.
You live in a country, you have a job (maybe outside of art, maybe not), you help that society continue through your basic involvement of living in it and paying part of your earnings. Though you may not join people in public protest, vote, or even talk about political subjects face-to-face, you're still involved.

Now, the idea that economy can be dismissed in the name of "saving lives" is ridiculous in this scenario.
People are starving because they've been put out of work. They don't have the luxury of waiting this out, unless their job is virtual or considered necessary for basic function of society.
For you to claim that people who urge us to go back to work are only considering their own monetary profit, and then simultaneously claim that you're not affiliating yourself with any political message, is very tasteless.

Bonekrishna In reply to Mr-Fizzle [2020-04-06 22:20:03 +0000 UTC]

First of all, being part of a society and being forced to play by its rules in order to survive does not equal to being affiliated to its political cause, those are two very distinct points. If you would allow me to simplify it a little, being part of a system isn't equal to be pro-system, otherwise every slave that ever existed could be considered pro-slavery. Now, I know that this isn't what your saying, but I chose to use this analogy just because I believe it better demonstrates my point. So no, I don't follow a political path and if anything I am against politics. I believe in decency, not politics.

Now for the second point. The fact that people are starving right now is the result of economy. Offer and demand and the need to create shortage are essential parts of the economy and were already killing us way before covid-19 ever existed. Though both of these things are happening now, they are not correlated and if fact, if we were to open up all countries and go "back to normal" we wouldn't be solving either of these problems, instead we would just be adding one death toll to another. A virus doesn't care for our economic situation, it just spread and multiply. There isn't a single thing that can be argued with a virus. A virus is real. On the other we have the concept of economy, something that doesn't exist without people who believe in it. Something that we can mold, shape and form to better suit our needs, something that could be use to help us all in this situation, but instead we prefer it to keep it as cold and inhuman as we possibly can. We could feed the hungry, but it isn't profitable. Hunger and poverty are results of the economy, not covid-19. Now, if you ask me what is more dangerous and in desperate need of action right now, between an idea passed by majority rules and an extremely contagious virus, I would have to say the virus. A virus can't be reasoned with. And the only way we can deal with this virus is through self-isolation and social distancing.

And lastly, arguing that the idea that the economy is more important than lives is wrong and that the main advocates of this idea are not the ones who are going to suffer its consequences is not political, it is just common decency.

Mr-Fizzle In reply to Bonekrishna [2020-04-06 23:16:03 +0000 UTC]

I'm not at all saying that human lives are less important.
I'm saying that it's irrational to be so fearful of a virus that is perfectly manageable with proper caution, like many food producers/deliverers and other important jobs have done.
It wont last any longer than the next month or two if people practice proper cleaning.
The only people at high risk are the elderly and people with immune system problems. Proper steps are being taken. Fear shouldn't be overriding any of it, especially when it puts healthy people out of work.

As for the more philosophical side, if you despised whatever system you're living in so much, why wouldn't you take steps to leave? Of course, now you wouldn't be able to for some time. From your stance on the term politics, it seems you'd never try to properly involve yourself to change it.
Slavery is a ridiculous comparison, like you said, because you are always an active member of it.
You seem to confuse the terms of economyΒ and politicsΒ to be ideas that are manufactured to control, when in fact they are made to better define the subjects.
Economy is the measurement of what individuals choose to trade. Whatever you choose to buy, that's your economical behavior. Measuring enough individuals, and you can make groups of certain factors (ie, shoe-makers, or bakeries), and thus see the ebb and flow of what people buy/sell.
Politics is the avenue that we place philosophical ideas into laws and other regulations. I guess you can say you're not political, if you never try to enact whatever ideas you have. At the very least, you certainly have political art.

These are real-world ideas that have an affect on your environment, even if you think you're entirely separate from them.
Unless you're living on an island without any other human, you can't say that you don't have the same effect on the people and environment around you.

This is pointless, I disagree with you and you disagree with me, nothing will change that. Thank you for taking the time to engage in conversation with me, but I have absolutely no desire to take this any further. Just please keep in mind that though we disagree, I have absolutely nothing against you, ok? It is too easy to read an argument opposing something we said as a direct attack on ourselves, and I hope that we don't fall into this trap. Stay safe, wash your hands!
