Description Dragons are awesome! They mix together the nostalgia of dinosaurs with the limitless of fantasy, I love this type of creature.
This is the Alabaster Dragon, they live on the cliffs of the Stormlands jumping and gliding more than flying from rock to rock preying on the foolish enough to enter the storm. Lone hunters by nature, they are rarely seen and even more rarely do they leave witnesses. Stay clear from the storm.

This is literally the most realistic dragon I have ever seen painted in my life and I have seen a lot. I've taken photos that don't even come up this clear. This looks like a screenshot to a ps4 game. Seriously I am in awe of your talent. If I may ask, where did you learn to paint like this? I've seen people paint things realistically from photos but never have I ever thought in my dreams that fantasy could be this real. How do you paint something that looks more realistic and appealing than real life? Its so well designed as well!!

Wow, this is stunning! It almost looks like a photograph as opposed to a digital painting becuase it looks so lifelike (if I can use that to describe a creature of myth!), which I really like. Lovely work!

Thank you very much! That is exactly my main goal! I've always wanted to make a "real" photo of something "unreal"! Create my own reality!

Beautiful! Looks like you based a lot of its anatomy off of a monitor.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bonekrishna In reply to VoadorChama [2015-10-11 21:21:05 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! And yes, I based the anatomy on lots of existing lizards, unfortunately I am incapable of creating a completely new anatomy. Everything we create is always based on something that exists already. But who knows, maybe someday I'll be able to create something completely original!

Mearns [2015-10-11 15:52:54 +0000 UTC]

That's a very unique texture you managed — most artists just slap in scales akin to snake and crocodiles, but here you went with something different. Love it! Was it done with brushes, or a literal texture itself?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bonekrishna In reply to Mearns [2015-10-11 21:17:04 +0000 UTC]

It is all brush work! Painted one by one and then adding more information with a series of random brushes I've created. No photos or textures were used. I have nothing against it, but I preferred to do it my way to make sure it wasn't scales other animals already had. These are my own brand of scales!

An impressive vision of a dragon!
This one appears rather life-like and elegant, yet the reptilian beauty seems to hide its ferociousness.
Thanks for the tip to stay clear from its kin. A deviation well done, fellow deviant!

Bonekrishna In reply to VesaiasTheValiant [2015-10-11 21:09:47 +0000 UTC]

Thank you! I really wanted to make it as "real" as I could, something close to a possible animal. I love all animals, but I always wanted to create my own animals. Too bad nature isn't hiring...

TheSanityProject [2015-10-10 21:57:20 +0000 UTC]

It looks so lifelike, as though I could just reach into the screen and touch it. (And probably get my finger munched on)
Love the tongue, is this at all reminiscent of the blue tongued skink?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Bonekrishna In reply to TheSanityProject [2015-10-10 22:07:20 +0000 UTC]

Thank you very much! You are far too kind on me! And yes, I definitely stole the tongue from the blue tongued skink. Maybe they actually related? Maybe this is a future evolution or a distant relative? Due to their elusive and also aggressive nature we may never know!

TheSanityProject In reply to Bonekrishna [2015-10-10 22:09:57 +0000 UTC]

I love stuff like that. I mean, fantasy unnrealistic dragons are all good like the glorious Smaug from The Hobbit, but seeing them looking similar to other reptiles makes it that more exciting and gives you the feeling that dragons could be real, like the pterodactyls. Almost dragons. ^-^

Bonekrishna In reply to TheSanityProject [2015-10-10 22:14:32 +0000 UTC]

Totally agree with you! I love classical dragons, but they just don't feel real enough for me... I wanna a real living one!

TheSanityProject In reply to Bonekrishna [2015-10-10 22:22:55 +0000 UTC]

Most people would be looking at an eastern dragon like "ooh. Cool" then walk off, and then I'm like, "ooo It looks like a snake, like that aborigine legend of the rainbow snake, it could be plausable if it had a large enough wingspan.. YESH! DRAGONS WILL BE REAL!" then walks off. It's the same with the loch ness monster. Looks like a dinosaur, so it's plausible that one or two managed to survive the dino-apocalypse. I'm over analysing this, aren't I? xD I'll leave you in peace now.
