Only one organization could create such abominations and bring them about the world...Yes, Team Rocket is by and large responsible for the genetic modifications and birth of Pokemon fusions! During the Mewtwo project, a rogue sect of the development team went about to utilize Team Rocket's vast resources and funds to entertain their dark visions. As if Mewtwo wasn't enough, these scientists continued and spliced genetic codes from their already large collection of specimen to create abominations...And this is one of them.

Name: Shellix (Shellder + Onix)

Shellix is the sad, twisted fusion created by Team Rocket not for battle, but for mining purposes. Shellders and Cloysters are kept in mass numbers in secret facilities all over the world creating pearls and sold in black markets for quick profits for Team Rocket. Although Shellder and Onix is an odd mix, Team Rocket thought ahead to make sure the result, Shellix, would be profitable as a force outside of battle. Onix, known to bury for miles underground, would make for the body of Shellix, and Shellder's properties such as having a shell stronger than diamond and ability to create precious material equals a great miner.

Observe: Shellix digs underground absorbing minerals and sand, after which Shellix's natural body fluids creates pearls and other beautiful stones.

Not much of a battler, Shellix is sent to a life of work. Many Shellix's are abused and rarely fight back because of Team Rocket's various brainwashing attachments they equip to their pokemon.
Team Rocket breeds their best Shellder's into Cloysters, and the remaining are fused with Onix to make up for their lack of skill in the manufacturing process. Its abilities are derived from its parents, and help with its mining. It can work in rainy conditions in the ocean, and underground at whim with Overcoat. It does prefer water, since Shellder is the main component of the two pokemon fused. The designer's ought to make Onix's horn into a dorsal fin of sorts to help the creature cut through the water. Like an actual Onix, Shellix's body can rotate at will, and it's "fins", which are the protrusions based off of Shellder's clam shell, are integrated to help it swim as well. The "rocks" making up its body are only rocky in appearance, but are actually the same material that makes up a Shellder's harder than diamond shell. This was engineered as rocks would obviously make the creature too heavy to swim, and prevents its body from getting whittled down like an actual rock under water from currents and such.

Personal Commentary:

Shellix is too cute so I hate to see him sad haha. Most of my fusions as you'll find out are created from the randomizer, so it takes a while before I find something cool or silly. As with Railee, I thought Shellix was cute and silly so I thought to draw him out. And by silly, I'm thinking of adult humor. I'll let you figure that one out LOL.

As I was drawing, I thought out its backstory and decided to add the pearl sticking out of its tongue near the completion of the work. I'm really pleased with this work, and I think I'm getting better at digital painting, at least in the "cel shading" department.

Anyway, like Railee, I find coming up with putting designs from the parent pokemon really fun, and more so coming up with why it would logically make sense as well as the back stories for the decisions.
