So with Pikachu down, I felt a lot more comfortable about tackling high profile creatures since I reassured myself from here on out, I will put more preference on finding an interesting interpretation of the Pokemon at hand opposed to trying to please everyone in the world...Which is a rather impossible task and therefore should be scrapped from thought. It also meant I would have sacrifice creative application which is absolutely against the nature of this project.

Today we look at Raichu, a pokemon who I interpretted as how I remember him from the TV show. Raichu and Surge were bullies and jerks, and Ash almost gave into what he thought was best at the expense of his best friend's feelings. The internet reminds me of Surge, and I being Ash looking to evolve my work to get past one obstacle.

My take on Raichu presents a long and twisty tail, which is a big feature of the original. I changed up Raichu's ears by making them longer rather than round, and removed his "earring". I also made them appear as part of the head opposed to having it look attached. I had the body color ease into the ear and then turn dark, much like Pikachu's.

I added peach rings to his hands and legs, to even out the exposure of the colors seen in the ears and belly. Originally my Raichu was soft in nature but I decided to harshen him up with a fun expression, and made his fur rather sharp looking as a reference to the static electricity that would surround this creature. Originally I had a lot more swirls going on with electricity shooting about its tail but it was just too much visually. He had the swirly earring as well but I removed it, thus leaving the only swirl on his cheeks. Swirls are cool and I've got some fun ideas for the the Poli-family!
So I guess that's all for now! The whole next bunch of Pokemon are really awesome, please look forward to them! I usually work on drafts for a number of creatures in advance to get an idea of what I want to do (and in most cases when that Pokemon of the day comes around, it gets changed up dramatically) and Raichu was the last of the original batch of drafts I completed. I rummaged through the Pokedex and worked up drafts up until Jigglypuff...I am super hyped and can't wait to share them.
