I feel really accomplished. lol. I've had this guy planned out for SO long and FINALLY managed to find some motivation and time in my schedule to draw him a ref. I wasn't sure how he'd turn out on paper, but I'm in love. Might make him a main character and find some artists to draw him
I was gonna use Rex in my story too, but it's not a definite yet.On another note, I'm fairly pleased with the anatomy on this one. It always takes me like half an hour to sketch the hind legs of German Shepherds. Besides the uneven height of the closer hind leg, if there's anything wrong with them, constructive crits are welcome :]
I'm also accomplished in having drawn the character facing to the right! (A quick glance through my gallery will back that up.. lol)
Would anyone be interested in a simple one-pose ref like this? Or a simple flat-color character? I'm considering opening a commission slot or two. Might auction one off on furry-paws.com as well P:

did y'know its a disorder for german shepherds to have a lean back and short back legs. they get bad brocken legs and have other disorders because breeders breed like mum to son and brother to sister. but still he is very good pictur and great anatomy

I didn't know it was a disorder, but I do know it's not great for them to have such a drastic slope in their back. I tried to make it a little straighter, but I guess that didn't work out as well as I planned P: lol. Thanks though

I like him and his design, even though I'm generally in favor of the standard sable pattern. Very pretty, and great work on the anatomy too.

There are American and East/West German lines. There is also a difference between the working and show lines in the East/West German dogs c: I'm not an expert on the breed, but it seems to me like the East lines are generally darker and a little more stocky. I think they also have less of a slope in their back, although I didn't depict that very well in my drawing P:
