Well, I was actually referring to the fact that if Moriah can manipulate shadows in this fashion, it'd probably be a more angering fight for Luffy because he'd be forced to fight his friends. 

...actually, in retrospect, that's something that was overlooked in the Luffy vs. Doflamingo battle! How much more of a bastard would Doflamingo have been if he actually made Luffy fight his friends?

Luffy's Haki would have probably prevented that.  If it can punch Logia types, I'd bet it could resist string control.

Well, Snaji and Zolo both know Kai, so they'd be immune.  (And the only major threats, let's be honest.)

ANd as soon as Doffy tried to take over Nami or Robin, Sanji would go berserk,  

So really, Doffy got off easy.
