Description Your challenge: take a block of colour that you don't normally use. With just that colour, play around and see what you can come up with.

I've been busy for some time, and haven't had time to make a real Fimo creation. After a discussion with ~Allethaen , I decided that some "sketching" was in order, to keep my hand in it. I took a hunk of pinkish-purple Fimo that ~Dragonfeelers mailed me, since she wasn't going to use it, and just mucked around a bit.

I started with the whorl on the top left -- for size comparison, it's a hair smaller than a dime. As I was making it, it reminded me of an insect's antenna, so I made the butterfly just so I could give it antennas. It gave me some much-needed practice with small details. I'm pleased with how fine I was able to make the antennae and still have them turn out; my fat fingers got in the way in other ways, though. You can't see it in this picture, but there are a few fingernail marks in the body and wing, from when I was trying to put it all together.

I made the second whorl (it's smaller than the first -- perspective gives it a bit of illusion) to see how tough it would be to get that double-loop thing in the center. It's actually worlds easier than I first thought it would be.

And finally, I used up the remainder of the hunk I'd kneaded to make the caterpillar. It gave me some practice at trying to make several balls of Fimo all the same size (obviously I still need more practice). The antennae are even finer than the butterfly's, and I'm happy with that, but I didn't have quite as much luck getting them on him undeformed.

I don't know what I'll do with these little things now. I'll probably glue little bits of magnet to the back, but they're so small that the only magnets that would fit are too weak to hold anything weighty. Ah well, they were still fun to make. *shrug*

Materials: Fimo soft, a little bit of cat hair (unintentional, I assure you)
Time taken: about 30 minutes for all four

Challenge?! Bring it on rug-boy!

Is there a time limit? I think you took the easy option and made everything flat! Still, at least you're playing with fimo unlike bad me!

Oh, it's so on.

No time limit, but the intent isn't to make masterpieces, just to play with Fimo. If you find another 12 hours in your schedule for another dream boat, you would have done so by now, right? d: This is something you can do for half an hour after dinner or something, not counting curing time, so it's something you can use to keep your hand in until you do find the time for a real masterpiece.

And the great thing about flat things is that they do indeed make pretty good magnets. Better than I expected, in fact. Not that it helps you because you don't have a magnetic fridge. But hey.
