Description
Nuckelavee was a creature from Scottish folklore, or more specifically from the Orkney Islands. It lived in the sea, but ventured on land to feast upon livestock and humans, destroying crops and bringing plague with its poisonous breath. It was a particularly horrifying and grotesque sight, as it is described as having no skin to speak of with veins coursing throughout its entire body. With a body of a horse, it walked around on four hooves that were also part flippers. It's horse head was said to have a giant gaping maw and a single eye, as red as glowing coal. Protruding from the horse's body was the torso of a man, with extremely long dangling arms and giant head. Its only weakness was fresh water, and all that was needed to escape Nuckelavee was to cross a fresh stream or river.
