Sorry it took me so long to get this out, I just got my laptop back. Here is my thanks to the fine folks who brought us Avatar, the only cartoon to ever spur me to draw so MUCH nonsense. That truly says something. Not sure if that's a GOOD something, but....eh.Related content

avatar was absolutely amazing...i just got done watching the entire series online a couple days ago. theres a movie coming out and its totally gonna screw it all up! -_- oh well....

People like to jump to conclusions when a movie's being made. Mostly because you just can't do the same things in an hour and a half to two hour movie that you could with 20+ episodes per season on TV. Plus, most cartoon-to-movie adaptations either attempt to re-tell too much of the same story or no backstory at all, expecting movie-goers to know what it's about.
However, most of the criticisms of this movie is simply because it's rumored that the cast is all-white and not Chinese or Japanese. Apparently it's racist... despite the fact that in the show, they never mentioned anything about China, Japan, or Mongolia (but definitely took inspiration from such cultures). So they weren't Asian, they were waterbenders/firebenders/etc.
It's just people with closed minds jumping to conclusions without actually watching the movie and giving it a chance.
