In a world where some humans serve as pets for others...

Flawed Pets are abandoned, put up for Street Adoption or left to fend for themselves without a Human Citizenship. They rarely ever find a new home as a result of their undesirable characteristics, which are pegged by their Owners, and most end up dying and removed, or are gathered in a Mill; stripped of their identity and resold (although even then, they are hardly ever purchased for their older age).

A Flawed Pet is a pet with obvious and/or visible symptoms of mental ailments or one who has developed and shown signs of attraction towards their Master/Owner. Pets are not taught how to read, write or speak, and are mainly owned for purposes such as housekeeping or personal interests. When a Pet is deemed Flawed, they are moved to a Post and signs are made by their Owners, it being law that one must post information about their Flawed Pet, and then Left. These Pets rarely ever learn why they're suddenly tethered to a Post, which has multiple holes for a bolt to be placed in, removable only by their Master's key (hence the "Original Owner" plaque).

Because of genetically altered food specifically made for Pets. They rarely grow over 5 feet 4 inches, or 162 centimeters tall. A Pet's lifespan ranges from 14 to 35 years due to the contributions of Leaving and the earlier mentioned food, some uncommon cases getting as old as 45. Because of the lacking food they are fed, their bodies begin shutting down in their 30's. Leashes and collars are also especially designed with human anatomy and capabilities on mind, nothing being able to break them and are known for having a reputation of being difficult to remove without knowledge of them.

And...that's enough ramble. :L I wrote a shit ton of stuff in my sketchbook for this, so I decided to just cram it all here. So...yeah...whoops, made another Derpy.

This Derpy is a shrimpy 5'1" and prolly around 16 to 17 years old. And his Skittles used to be that kid who picked up puppies and kittens off of the streets so

Wonder if that old pic of Mute with a collar counts into this new AU.
