Description
I was playing with the concept of an alternate universe where Jeannie actually survived the fire in 'The Killing Joke', and was reuinted with her husband after his transformation. Done with copic markers.Related content

Oh, here's another one.
The exposure to the acid should have killed him, but it didn't. Somehow the Joker woke up in Gotham harbor with barely any memories of who he was before the accident; he remembered that he had a wife and child, though, and ran home to check on them. Once he got there, though, he found a gruesome crime scene. What little sanity he had melted away, and he decided then and there to hunt down her killers, so he concocted a plan to expose everyone in the city to toxic chemicals, including himself. Batman stopped him, though, and also stopped him from taking his own life. Broken and defeated, the Joker swore vengeance on Batman. After being humiliated one or two times more, the Joker decided he liked the game and thanked his new "friend" for the challenge.
A variation:
The Ace Chemical incident happened way back in the 1930's. Joker was exposed to some kind of chemical that preserved him and made him live much longer than he should have and for the most part, he just lay dormant lamenting the fact that he can't die or forget his loved ones and occasionally taking it out on the citizens as a sort of bogeyman. Batman showed up in the 1980's, and Joker decided to have a little fun with him. (The pale man origin)

Joker should have the Killing Joke backstory. It was one of his original backstories; In Gotham Knights, he's even shown crying over a photo album of him and Jeannie and offering to help the Riddler out of prison in exchange for information about her killers. Joker's wife from the Killing Joke made him seem much more sympathetic and more mysterious.
I think the problem is, though, that Joker has gotten so many great origin stories that we would almost have to have all of them turn out as true to satisfy the fans. It would be a huge disappointment if he were given a backstory like the Valaska brothers on Gotham. Joker's not just a twisted psychopath; he's got reasons to be the way he is, but we just don't know what they are?
Some great Joker origin stories, take your pick:
Joker was committed to an asylum after demonstrating violent behavior toward his foster parents and was forced into the mob to become a hit man at the ripe old age of twelve in exchange for his freedom. In his world, it was kill or be killed and he became very good at killing people for money. (Potential origin story in Batman Confidential)
Joker left and went to war, where he was forced to kill even more innocent people. PTSD and other factors led to him developing an extreme hatred toward violence and a revulsion to the unfair way people often treated each other. An explosion due to the directions of a careless general left him with a permanent smile-shaped scar via a deep jagged Glasgow grin.
When he got back from the war, he tried to integrate back into normal society, but he found himself shunned. Even though he served the country, it was nearly impossible to find a job or meet his basic needs. He became just another homeless guy forgotten by the streets. Worse yet, the sounds of war were present on the streets where he grew up. One day, he just--snapped, bought some greasepaint, made himself look like a clown, and decided to become the enemy, the terrorist, the source of everyone's deepest darkest fears so that the people would remember what it was like to have compassion and treat each other with love, respect, and dignity. Joker decided to turn Gotham into a war zone to prove a point and teach them all a lesson they wouldn't soon forget! (Potential Dark Knight origin)
Joker was a struggling comedian who had a dark past with the mob. At first, he secured a job as a lab assistant at Ace Chemicals and was making good money, but someone found out he had a criminal record and brought it up to the boss, and he was fired on the spot. He didn't want to tell his wife the truth, so he made up the story about quitting to follow a dream, and he did comedy on the side while he searched for more work. One day, he got angry with himself for leaving the mob; he had always had money when he worked for them and the work wasn't that bad. Plus, society was punishing him for trying to live an honest life. He made a hard decision to go back to a life of crime, only temporarily, though. Joker knew where some of gangsters hung out, so he met with them and explained his problem--his wife was pregnant, he had lost his job, and he was naively trying to make it as a comedian. To his surprise, they didn't shoot him but set him up with a pretty sweet sounding deal--wear the Red Hood mask and break into Ace Chemicals and help them sneak into the card factory. What could go wrong? Little did Joker know it was actually a set up planned by his old boss--Sal Valestra. (Potential Killing Joke origin, mixed with some 1989 Batman)

Man, If The Killing Joke was Joker's True Backstory It would make Him A MUCH Better Character In My Opinion! And you just made My day man with This Joker fanart! I'm sick of DC Fans Always saying to keep the Joker's background Mysterious! )
I AM STARTING TO GET TIRED OF THE JOKER'S MYSTERIOUS BACKGROUND FOR GODS SAKE! )
DC PLEASE JUST REVEAL WHO HE IS! JOKER'S REMAINED WITHOUT A BACKSTORY LONG ENOUGH! )
Sorry for my anger Bored-In-Science, I'm just starting to get tired of the Joker's mysterious background because It gets so frustrating when you have to deal with these Great constant origins but none of them turn out to be real. Joker has some AMAZING Backstories that could've been revealed as his real one, For example:
1.) The Killing Joke
2.) Batman 1989
3.) Batman Lover's and Madmen and so much more!
By The way, I'm Gonna Give You a Full explanation On Why The Mysterious background Of The Joker Doesn't make sense At All. AnD This is just My Opinion so please don't be mad.
Origin stories are the most important thing about a Hero But Villain Backstories Are The Most Important. Sometimes The Villains we always thought were evil are actually more right than we thought. Many villains are actually misunderstood and chastised by society, resulting in characters going Insane Or Driven To The Dark Side. Let's take a Look At Magneto For example. While Professor X wants to create Peace Between Humans and Mutants, Magneto Fully disagrees with Professor X. But take A Look Around The X-Men world, All Mutants are Subjected to registration acts, Warfare, and Prison Just like Magneto Was. So Magneto could be not all wrong and be the hero from the Mutant's point of perspective.
The Joker's quotes from The Dark Knight, The Killing Joke, and his other life lesson quotes doesn't make Much since If You Actually think about it. If The Joker were to Have The Killing Joke Origin His true Backstory or a good one revealed as His Origin, That Could add more meaning behind his quotes and make the Joker the hero from our and his perspective. All Of The Joker' Life Lesson quotes just doesn't make sense at all since he doesn't have A Backstory, If He Did have a good one done right it could Add More Meaning behind The Joker and Proves that His "One Bad Day" Quote and His other life lesson quotes from Movies and Comics are right.
And If You don't believe me, just watch This: youtu.be/7JNMJ_8wLNE And youtu.be/raBNkrqt_kw
Sure It does spoil Joker's Mysterious Background, But Do you see my Whole Point There?
