Description Codex:
State of the world: The world has just recently been reintroduced to mana. About two years ago a great event occurred. It was not a cataclysm on a physical level so most people don't realize the real issue but mana was released into the world again after 1000 years of being sealed. Its original seal was destroyed in a power struggle to obtain the power source but once the seal was broken strange events occurred throughout the world. Some were disastrous while others miraculous. Now a new power source has been reintroduced into the world and humans are living in luxury, but it's not just humans anymore. Forces were set in motion that would change the world, physically and mentally.
With only two years passing people still don't realize what has been set loose. Storys of magic have been downplayed by science and monsters have been blamed on new genetic technology. But events are taking place that are making it hard to rely on science to give the answers everyone wants, soon people will see the truth and the world will change; again.

World:
The timeline takes place roughly two years into the future. Technology has advanced twice as fast as anyone thought possible due to the release of mana which led to a new kind of arms race. Many of the events from the real world carry over to the comic as well as some new events that I will make up. Cultures, history and myths also pass over into the world with the addition of the myths actually being plausible.

The event to start it all:
Two years before the story takes place a group of immortals are trying to reseal a hole in a mana well to prevent its discovery by humans. After some dialog it will become apparent that the hole that is forming is not a natural occurrence but rather an attack by dragons trying to escape into the world. The immortals are not familiar with this foe save for the eldest immortal who has peered into their realm only once before. The elder performs a drastic  move to prevent the entry of dragons into the world but at the cost of the well exploding and causing a chain reaction that opens all of the other wells in the world. The explosion of energy disrupts life. It essentially acts like a crazy nuke, the effects are random though and while some building are blasted apart others remain intact humans are not affected by the explosion save for any debri that hits them. The power unleashed by the well is immediate. Many humans that would have been killed by collapsing buildings are other natural disasters emerged unscathed or surrounded in a  barrier. It does not take long for this to be capitalized upon.

Magic:
It is uncertain what caused the release of mana back into the world. Since the event has occurred humanity and the world have changed. Mythical creatures are returning to the world and magic is beginning to sprout back up causing odd unexplainable happenings.

Properties of mana science: The scientists describe the phenomenon of mana as an ambient radiation covering the earth. It is not seen but felt in the back of the mind, like a slight itch. A byproduct of the new radiation is that it acts like floating energy. Scientist have learned to harness this new energy into controlled fields and battery's; shielding, energy weapon and infinite power supplies.

Technology:
When the mana came into the world scientist had a heyday. New kinds of technology began to emerge.

Shielding tech: Shield tech is utilized by condensing the surrounding mana and condensing it into a solid barrier. She shield is made of mana and whatever particles happened to be in the air. The energy required for the shield is immense with the current tech and requires a large battery to maintain. Shielding technology creates a stronger shield than a mages shield at the cost of energy.

Energy weapon tech: Energy weapons are a debatable weapon to use. On one hand they have a limitless amount of ammunition but on the other they overheat and require a steady source of energy.  They condense mana into small rounds and fire them at high speeds, faster than even a normal bullet with no recoil. They deal relatively the same damage under normal conditions but in a high mana environment or when a round is charged they can produce devastating effects.

Energy Tech: Mana is a new power source. It is limitless supposedly and can be used anywhere rather than supplied from a power plant. Although mana condensing plants are popping up slowly the need is not great. Special mana batteries are being developed to power weapons and heavy machinery.

Robotics has taken great leaps with the new energy source available. Independent androids are now possible and common in large cities. Cyborgs are even more common since it has become cheaper and easier to merge a human body with a machine. Some people do it recreationally and some people use it to replace lost or useless limbs. It is a shady practice however to put a human brain inside a robot body but it has been done.

Genetics: Mana seems to have an odd effect on the human body when applied through medical science. Artificial powers can be created and human gene splicing is almost common among mad scientists.

Power through Mana:
Powers are starting to manifest in humanity. It is most apparent in children but adults are also very common. Not many people understand what is happening; they only know that somehow their hands caught fire or that they can breathe underwater. The powers seem random to each person but a pattern of location is born. Family bloodlines seem to carry distinct powers, however the purer the family the weaker the power. (There will be more to it but it will need discussion.) So far the public has little knowledge of their powers, no books are written and the internet is having a hard time to keep up with the new discovery's every day. The world doesn't know how to cope with the power users so whoever is a power user is simply called a user. Users so far not common but more and more pop up each day, the phenomenon is worldwide and roughly 30% of all populations contain users.

Common power types:
Shield types: These power types tend to use mana as a defense. Common shields are earth and metals but those that take the time and effort to learn to control their powers learn that they can create seals and barriers to constrain and contain.
Subtype sealing: Seal power users specialize in locking down an opponent with shielding powers rather than protecting themselves. The can block the mana from an area or simply lockdown an enemy with shielding bindings. These users typically use raw mana to do this but common elements can be used for physical seal combos.
Subtype barrier: Barrier users specialize in setting up semi-permanent and permanent barriers; as opposed to the active shield. These can be used in a number of different ways. A barrier can act as a simple shield or skilled user can use them to hide.
Offensive types:  Offensive power users can have a wide variety of attacks; from missile attacks to being able to turn their own bodys into weapons. Power users like this can use a wide range of effects but most specialize into a certain aspect of combat.
Subtype missiles:  Often missile users can turn elements into weapons. Wind can be used to turn the field to their advantage. The common practice when they want to kill is to simply turn the surrounding mana into missiles that can blow up with devastating results. The common elements are raw mana, wind, water and fire.
Subtype telekinesis: Telepathy can be considered a mix power but it is primarily used for offense.
Subtype superhuman: Sometimes powers manifest themselves as simply added strength or speed. A mana user can also actively augment their own bodys as they see fit as well but there can be consequences if done wrong.
Subtype weaponized body: Not to be confused with superhumans. Weaponized humans can either transform part of their body's into weapons or conjure weapons out of the environment. Good weaponizers can make a weapon out of pure mana.

Battery types: Battery type users have an abundance of mana at their disposal, more than offensive users and defensive users combined. Many don't have much more control over their powers beyond basic keeping themselves from exploding. They can use their powers for both defensive and offensive purposes but they typically have little control over their actions once the power is cast. Some battery users have so much power that the world around them warps and the very walls of reality start to tear.
Subtype Warper: Warpers have little control over their powers and tend to warp the world around them. Sometimes the effects are harmless but sometimes things get crazy. From holes to other dimension's to breaks into the mana realm, neither of which are good.
Time variants: Sometimes powerful warpers rip through time itself.
Subtype controllers: Controllers have more control over their powers and can act offensively or defensively at the risk of losing control of the power once it's loose.
Supporter variants: Supporters can be used as batteries by other users to boost their own powers.

Realms of mana:
As briefly stated with batteries there are different realms within mana. There are three realms of note. The realm of dragons (Or the holding realm), realm of mana and the realm of nothing; each realm holds its own perils and resources.

Realm of Dragons: Also known as the holding realm by the dragons themselves. Long ago the dragons locked themselves in this realm to save themselves from the great extinction. What the realm actually is a time locked pocket within the realm of mana. The dragons chose this place so that they could limit their procreation and the risk of over repopulation of the earth.

Realm of mana: This is the source of raw mana. The truth is that the whole world is littered with tiny holes to the realm of mana but they are incredibly hard to locate and exploit. Most mana condensing stations are placed on or near one of these points to exploit there infinite energy source. The realm of mana itself is simply a world of chaos, it is unclear if there are sentient beings living there but any battery user will tell you that there must be.  (There are sentient creatures living in mana but I don't have to many plans to use them. I want to keep it a mystery.)

The realm of nothing: This is a realm of much mystery. Mystery in the fact that nothing exists here. No energy no mana, no real light or darkness. It is simply a realm of nothing. It is to be noted that those that live in the realm of nothing are immortal; nothing can die in this realm. It's a wonder why since there's no mana to twist the fabric of nature or time.
Nobodys: Within the realm of nothing exist nobodys; people who were banished to the realm long ago and succumbed to the effects of nothing. Their body's became twisted and wispy and all sense of self is lost. Nobodys work in a hive mind sense to maintain a consciousness however no individual has a sense of self. They do not feel emotion.  They do have powers though it's a mystery where they get them since the realm of nothing has no mana. The only powers to note are shielding and the ability to remove object or people from reality; making so it's as if they never existed. (Nobodys retain the memorys of their past life although as time progresses most of them fade. The only humans are from before the mana wells were closed off.)
Nobodys have a wispy body, thin and no real features of note. Their color is grey.
The Grey tower: Later in the story a grey tower is located in the realm. Its the first sign of change in the realm and a testament to the curiosity of man.

Corporations:
There are two main corporations in the world that are relevant to the plot. The main role of the corporations play is that they are used by two different secret societies like chess pieces.  Also within the corporations are unguided projects where mad science takes place.
Crescent: A company specializing in energy technology. Crescent began rising to power before the event and jumped to the top when the event occurred. They are the major supplier of weapon and shielding technology today and they have many connections with Americas and the U.K's military. Despite their friendly here to help attitude Crescent is a corrupt company with a hidden motive to take over the world.
Secret Society New Moon: New moon is the key power underneath Crescent. The company and the society work together in tandem in order to boost their sales and earn more money while taking over the world. The group is primarily made of immortals and the long lived. Their goal is to rule the world in secret and keep magic under lock and key. They are a symbol of order.
Luminescent: Luminescent is the main competitor to Crescent. They don't produce the same goods but their goals are the same. Luminescent is the leader in genetic technology. They have produced super humans that can do the unimaginable. There secret to this is their supply and knowledge of mythical creatures. They have dragon and Titan DNA at their disposal and have created hybrids with this DNA.
Secret society Ambient: Ambient wants to introduce mana back into the world in order to cause chaos and change. They see the world as a boring stagnant place that needs a new start and they see mana as that fresh start. They are the geniuses behind Luminescent and are the true leaders in genetic technology. Ambient is formed mostly of humans but there are a few ancients among the group

Races:

Titans:  Titans are literally the oldest creatures on the earth. They have existed since the dawn of the earth and have watched it grow and change before there very eyes. The Titans age with the earth and die with it. Their connections to the earth are strong and they have great power and knowledge because of it. Titans come in many shapes and sizes and each one is unique to its surroundings. They can be as big as a skyscraper or as small as a dog, size does not determine their power.
The politics of the Titans are simple, either they do what helps life flow on the earth or they do nothing. A Titan will not fight another Titan unless driven to it. There has been no recorded war of Titans but they have alluded to a single war during the beginning of the world. Titans have no technology of their own as they have never needed it to stay hidden, even from the dragons.
Titans have been in a long slumber until the Event due to the lack of mana in the world. Some have died from the mana starvation but most still live and regret the events that sealed mana in the first place. Some of the Titans were so huge that upon waking up they found that whole villages or city's had been made on top of them. Some mind while others do not. The Titans are not actively hiding their presence but they are trying to stay out of the public eye, mainly by blending in with their environments.
Sentience: Yes
Mana Strength: Strong
Life span: Unknown, however it is confirmed that they can be destroyed.
Appearance: Titans take on the elements of the world around them. If they live in the desert they will have body's made of sand and stone with little life on them. If they live in the forest they might be part of the trees or take on the shape of a leopard made of plants and earth. Artistic license can be taken with each titan.
Titanic: Depending on the breed titans may talk in different ways. No two titans talk exactly the same way but there language is not based in sound though sound can be used to enhance words or to get the attention of another Titan. Some titans are able to mimic human languages but it is very hard for most of them to achieve this and any who do do it more out of either necessity or to preserve dead and dying languages as a hobby. Most titans have a hard time talking to humans. The only way they can effectively talk to humans is to work through channelers or children. For channels they can grant the gift of tongues. Children are able to be naturally tuned to a particular titan and can translate what the titan says. Tuned children can talk to a titan for the rest of their life. If titan dies the child can suffer severe emotional trauma due to the closeness of the link between the titan.

Dragons: Dragons were born during the time of the dinosaurs. Mana was greater during their time and they became an advanced civilization that nearly surpassed humanity. Unfortunately a great cataclysm shook the earth at their peak and forced them to trap themselves into the holding realm. There have been times when the dragons would try and leave their prison but to no avail as the humans almost always saw them as monsters. There are a few colonies of dragons hidden in the world but they have made it certain that mortals would not find them. Many dragons recent humans for keeping them locked in the holding realm while some have seen the better parts of humanity.
Sentience: Yes
Mana Strength: slightly greater than humans but have had more experience with them.
Life span: Long lived but not immortal. Roughly 500 years is an old dragon.
Appearance: Dragons are varied but many myths and legends have their appearance correct.
Draconic: Dragons don't speak human languages due to the shape of their mouths. They can understand many languages but they don't speak most of them themselves. Instead they talk to each other through growls, grunts, roars and most noticeably bursts of fire. The fire breaths are small and bursty and not intended to try and wound other dragons but rather to make statements or pass on strong emotions. It is considered rude to burst fire onto another dragon and can be used as a way to shame or mark each other. It is common to give only a burst of fire to statements rather than a full sentence as the fire can serve as an affirmative with emotion. Fire bursts don't need to be seen to be noticed, they make a loud thumming noise as well as a strong smell, different words and emotions produce different sounds and smells.
Dragon Eggs: Dragon eggs are a lot like chicken eggs. Dragons can lay eggs both fertilized and unfertilized. There is no tell tale sign to the naked eye if an egg is fertilized even for dragons. The process to tell however is not hard and most magick users can tell with a simple life detection spell. More in depth info on the status of the egg however is only obtained through more detailed/skilled use of magick. Both types of eggs are very important to the story.
Fertilized eggs are used for reproduction. Dragons can only produce one or two eggs a year and the destruction of an egg can start blood feuds. Fertilized eggs are not magic rich but do contain magic to sustain and raise the whelpling. Incubation times of an egg vary by each clan of dragons and how much magic has been used in the fertilization process. Eggs take about 3 years to hatch, they do not need any kind of special habitat to incubate but a habitat that is rich in magic and heat tends to get better times.
Unfertilized eggs are used more as a commodity to the other races than anything else. An unfertilized egg acts as a kind of battery rather than a food source. The term battery is literal, they give off massive amounts of magic and can be used to power small cities and towns. Eggs never run out of magic but rather will start to produce less energy if overused. If constantly overused an egg will become dormant. Humans mistake this for death and will tend to pass off an egg for scientific research. If an egg is broken while still fresh it will violently explode unless held by a channeler, if the channeler is weak or untrained the egg will most likely kill him. Even with stronger channelers the chance of death is high and heavy injury is a certainty.
Dead Eggs are eggs that are fertilized but the whelp inside is dead. It is basicly a miscarriage for dragons. If a dragon produces a dead egg the egg is given a death ceremony and disposed of. Keeping a dead egg is a taboo and considered appalling since its like keeping a dead person. Dead eggs have the properties of an unfertilized egg and the dead whelp inside the egg. Some dead eggs are simply whelps that are dead in the body but not in the head however there is no way to tell.

Immortals: Immortals are as their name states, immortal. Little is known of what they truly look like because they always where special armors or disguises to conceal their appearance. They always have a jewel of some sort with them though; it can be on any part of their bodies. They might conceal it or show it off depending on its size or shape. (The jewel is a life gem. It binds them to the mortal world. The size and shape show their status in the mortal world. They are residents to the realm of mana and are trapped in the mortal world by their own choice most of the time. When their gem is destroyed it is assumed that the immortal dies with it but there is a debate that they simply are absorbed back into the realm of mana.)
Sentience: yes
Mana strength: Incredibly strong. No one can compare to them.
Life span: Infinite, and its uncertain if they can be truly killed.
Appearance: An immortals looks can vary heavily. Some choose to don armor and take the shapes of mythical beings while others choose to disguise themselves to fit into society. Their eyes are a glowing mist and everywhere else is covered most of the time.

Monsters: Monsters are the byproduct of mana mutation. It only happens near batteries, mana wells or high mana zones. Some monsters are native to the earth before mana but many are new to the world. Luminescent creates its own batches of monsters as well.

Mana Mutation: When a monster is created by mana it's usually the product of mana and an animal or human. Sometimes the creatures are sentient but most of the time any creature created goes temporarily insane. Most mutations give the monster higher intellect enhanced strength and sometimes a power as well. Many creatures take on mythical appearances but not all.
Sentient mutations come from birds, dolphins, squids and cats. Semi-sentient creatures include dogs, lizards, bugs(hive types have an intelligent queen.)

Religion: Religions have changed drastically with the release of mana. Miracles are commonplace now and many churches are bringing in more and more believers. Power user priests are learning to use their powers to control the masses through fear or benevolence, depending on their power types. Immortals have a large tie into different religions and there is rumor they founded a few of them themselves.
New religions are popping up as well. With the renewal of the Titans there has been some debate among the younger society's to view them as gods, demons or simply new neighbors.

Factions of Titans:
State of the water Titans: The water Titans are some of the largest Titans and some sea faring folks have turned them into the heroes or gods of their lives. The Titans don't mind it much since most of the time they are left alone while the humans make their chants. They have taken to protecting creatures they see as in danger of becoming extinct though and have proven a threat to whalers. More humans have also followed their lead and take to attacking whaler boats. (Water Titans are spread throughout the sea. Their huge and numerous and no one knows their main collection point.)

State of the village Titans: A group of earth Titans had been dormant in Germany and found that
villages have sprung up on their backs. This was not an unknown thing to the Titans and they took on a shop that would let them walk with the villages on their backs.  The local villagers were dumbstruck to find the Titans and began to argue over how they were going to work things out with their villages uprooted. The Titans made a deal with the villagers that they wouldn't rock the villages too much and they could keep on living on their backs. (The village Titans are huge, they can hold a good number of farms without any worry.)

Titans of the Sahara: (Unfinished idea)

Titans of the sky: Skybyrds: The Skybyrds are a group of flying Titans that take on large winged forms. They live in America but travel to other continents often. They have taken to the sky to see the new world they have woken up to. They are proud Titans who boast of their speed and endurance and have made rivals out of many pilot men and women. Their most notable set of rivals are the ravens, a high spirited group of fighter pilots that have taken the Titans reign of the sky personally. There's always a race above the ocean so the other humans don't find out about the titans to soon.
Dragon Factions: Dragons have a clan based system that is dictated by the strength or type of dragons. Some clan chiefs value strength while another chief might value cleverness. A dragons color and powers are greatly influenced by their clan. (Dragon names are roughly translated and are generally poorly translated. The real names are unspeakable by humans)
Black clan: The fighters and berserkers of the dragon societies. They value bloodlust and carnage more than any of the other dragon clans. They are the point and shoot army of the dragon society. They don't have the largest population due to their standing with the white clan.
Leader: Grimsight
Red clan: The red clan dragons are the honorable warriors of the dragon society. They never give up and they value honor greatly. They are constantly at odds with the black dragon clan due to their vicious bloodlust nature.
Leader: Breaktooth
White Clan: The white clan are the mages and mediators of the dragon society. Most of the clans have high respect for them. There is a rumor that that has originated from the yellow clan that the white clan uses mind altering magic to settle debates but the rumors were quickly stopped when the main investigators were ambushed by the black clan.
Leader: Third Eye
Lead mediator: Sightless

Bios:
Keith: Born into a rich family Keith was destined to be on the board of directors in Crescent. However betrayal was afoot and his place on the board was lost. Despite the fact that his father was on the board still Keith had no place in the company and was only lucky enough to get a job as a lab assistant in the military sector. In a great act of spite Keith stole a power armor that was still in testing from a top secret facility. Once Keith equipped the armor he broke out of the facility and began a career as a thief. During his travels as a thief Keith was contacted by an interested party. They wanted him to steal and destroy a certain set of documents from a facility owned by Luminescent.

Keiths Armor: The armor Keith stole was a prototype armor that would utilize magic as a power source. Only a select few people knew of what the energy source really was and Keith was not one of them. With the armor Keith has super strength, adaptive armor and active camo, all of which use mana as a source of energy. Due to the armor Keith cannot use magic himself while wearing the armor and cannot reach the potential he has.

Karen: Karen is a lab subject of Luminescent. She was created with the DNA and Mana. She is the byproduct of a secret experiment intent on ripping a hole to the realm of mana. While trying to open a door to the world of mana scientist came across a sort of pocket dimension by mistake. The dimension was closely linked to the world of mana and held dragons, which promptly destroyed the machines used for the dimensional door as well as most of the scientist involved. However the door was destroyed by mistake and three dragons were left behind. The security of the laboratory quickly subdued the three dragons and they were used as science experiments. Only one of them still lives (Not Karen). With the DNA gathered from the dragons scientist began to take leaps and bounds in genetic engineering. The latest and greatest product of their experimentation is Karen.

Karen is a test subject. She hates the fact that her powers are always dampened by the scientist and that there's no one that understands her. She knows of the outside world but is helpless to break out of her prison. Despite most of the scientist being crazed goons there are a few that see her as a person and one that sees her as a daughter. With their encouragement and help she sees that there is more to the world than simply walls and experiments.
