Ants have always been some of my most favorite creatures. They've been the world's advanced civilizations long before we humans in our arrogance have claimed to be.
What I've found most touching, I think, is their use of "domesticated livestock." I quote that term because we've labelled it that way as we liken it to the way we have our simple farm animals such as cows. But it's so much more than that in the ant world. It's a symbiotic relationship with a completely natural balance in life, with no ill effects that human interference has caused the same idea.
It's the beauty of the intelligence of these creatures that blows my mind. It's our ignorance of them that makes them so alien to us, yet there are over 1.7 million of them in the world per human being. They know what they're doing, and they will long after we're gone. Long live the little ones

This is a really good shot^^ This ant takes care of the aphids because they produce that which ants really like.

Wow, this is such an amazing picture. I heard that ants milk aphids, but have never really seen it.

For once in my life I can actually see an aphid. 8D
It used to make me mad when I was little cause I could never see them on plants.

I see my leaves starting to shrivel (orange tree) or I noticed the ant farmers. Steady stream of ants to my plants usually means aphids. Flip over the leaf and yep! lots of them happily sucking away at my plants!

Hm... then that means that I must not get aphids on my plants. Although I guess I should check my melon plant.
